Shopping for cultural bridal materials
Hello Hiveians
Today I want to show us the rich cultural heritage that exist in the my Idoma land with the style and method of our cultural during a marriage ceremony.
A complete cultural outfit for the day is seen here with the matching gele of the bride and cap for the groom. Beads and lace fabric sewn in a traditional manner.
Agbada and trousers are the dressing for the groom which can be sewn from any fabrics while the bride must tie a long wrapper around her waist with a blouse as seen.
Some of the list of cultural items purchased are these. Traditional hand fan is inclusive of the cultural wears for the women even though a modern touch and has been added to it advancing from our traditional bamboo handfans to a more beautiful creative feathered diy hand made handfans.
Jewelries won't be left out of a brides outfit as well.
The Aso-Oke called Idoma west is our major culture attire. It is worn as wrappers around the waist and tied on the head as well while one is free to put on any matching top on the wrapper and scarf.
The male form of this dressing includes in the use of the cultural cap made of the black and red mixture of the Idoma west aso-oke like dad had his cap on Here.
A little modern touch has been added to this mood of dressing that the fabric is now used for different purpose mixing and sewing it into the normal English fabric prints.
A complete sample of that is seen in my dads outfits with the cap and his top here.
For my sister been the bride she chose a cultural dressing different from the Idoma's. The aso-oke was used for here outfit but in this case it was used for a scarf tied as Gele but she added a touch of our traditional red bead
A look back at a complete Idoma cultural brides attire can be seen here.
My sister chose to added modern touches to our cultural attire and also took a color after her best.
To this post I had wished to add a list of items like the marriage rite ceremonies and what it takes to get married to a Benue bride, but I wasn't privileged to get the needed backup picture that could have presented these ideas properly.
I had a busy time during the occasion last weekend from constant visit to market and lots of attending to visitors that I didn't have the time to take some nice shots.
For instance our traditional dish, okoho and ogbono were prepared and served at the occasion. The marital rite and list of cultural items remitted to the brides family and lots of other rite, I wouldn't want to bore us with the stories alone leaving out these fascinating pictures.
That's is the summary a cultural dressing for a marriage ceremony in Idoma land. We had a great time and I believe that the couple are enjoying their honey moon already. 😂😂😂
