Stay at home

Staying at home, on a Sunday, resting and sharing with our loved ones, will always be a good plan. But these days, staying home is the most responsible plan we can have. In my case, I have decided to go for some beers and look for some good books that will make me more bearable this Sunday of many news in Venezuela.

About the Covid 19, health authorities around the world have recommended to keep safe in their homes and if necessary to go out, take precautions such as wearing gloves, mask and implements that not only protect you, but the lives of others. In Venezuela there have already been some cases of coronavirus and officially, the government has issued a statement suspending classes at all levels of education and banning any activity or public gathering. So a few good black beers will not only quench my thirst and heat, but also keep me company in my reading.

While I drink my Polar beers, one of the most important brands of beer in my country and perhaps the most delicious in this southern part of America, I read on the Internet that the Berlin Philharmonic is opening its Digital Concert Hall free of charge for one month, to make it easier to stay at home in one way or another. Likewise, I have seen that there are many very interesting pages of films and short films that we could use to make the hours more entertaining and educational. I'll share two of them with you here:

I also review some news portals that review the current figures of victims by the Coronavirus (https://www.rtve.es/noticias/20200315/mapa-mundial-del-coronavirus/1998143.shtml) and it seems that Italy, China, Spain, Iran, South Korea, USA, France, are the countries most affected by this virus that has the world population in a state of alarm.

The book I'm reading this afternoon is called Versos Caseros and is by a Venezuelan author named Carmelo Chillida. In this book, the poetic voice speaks to us from the everyday life of the human being, from the simplest things, from an environment that can sometimes be an ally but also an enemy. At this point I read the poem XIV, which describes how a day develops in the lyrical voice, from the arrival of the woman to the house, the reading she does in the afternoon, the games of the children, to the opinion she has of the president of her country, to finish saying in a last verse: "I would like/know how to pray". There are moments when there is so much anguish and despair that we only have to look at the sky. And perhaps that is what we should do at this time: pray that this pandemic passes soon and does not take more victims.

UNTIL THE NEXT READING, FRIENDS

Without a doubt, drinking a good liquor and reading a good book will always be a perfect combination to take advantage of the time of rest and recollection, like this one that is lived in a forced way in Venezuela and other parts of the world. Cheers, @nancybriti.
