HOW I MADE A LOVELY AGBADA: A STYLE POPULARLY WORN IN THE WESTERN PART OF NIGERIA.
Good morning to you all. Thank you for your comnents on my previous post, they realy inspired me.
This morning i will be sharing with you how i made this lovely agbada.
Agbada is one of the names for a flowing wide-sleeved robe worn by men in much of West Africa.
The garments is known by various names in different ethnic groups and languages that adopted it from the original babban riga of the Hausa People, called agbada in Yoruba.
Let me take you through the process of how i got it done.
MATERIALS USED
- FABRIC ( IRISH)
- THREAD
- PAPER STAY
CUTTING PROCESS
Before you proceed to cutting of the fabric, measurement must be ascertain and the measurements to be taken are shoulder, sleeve and lenth.
Since its a garment, a flowing wide sleeve robe, the length is always some inhes below the knee, and the sleeve is measured to the finger tip.
After the measurement has been taken, then we cut.
I folded the fabrics into two considering the lenth and shoulder as well as that of the sleeve.
Then i took to designer for embroidery.
SEWING PROCESS
Firstly I folded the allowances and I added to the sleeve then sew. t
Thereafter you joined to the main body piping it.
Then i joined the length leaving an opening.
