"Humanity is a family"
The family helps each other, forgives each other and generates love, that moment where you feel you have a group around you supporting, advising and not judging you "that's what a family is. In every moment of life, we form different families, none are perfect, some share peculiar traditions and others are very outgoing, but family is family and they only want the best for you.
There are different types of families and because of the way the world is going sometimes we are separated from them, we have to migrate, sometimes for opportunities other times it is the destiny, and we are making new families of friends, of work, of travel and above all of life. What makes us family are those ties, those that you enjoy every time it happens, those that you share, with those you love. Many of these ties come from the hand of tradition, and this time I will bring you a family tradition.

La familia se ayuda, perdona y genera amor, ese momento donde sientes tener un grupo alrededor apoyando, aconsejando y que no te juzga “eso es una familia. En cada momento de la vida formamos diferentes familias, ninguna es perfecta, algunas comparten tradiciones peculiares y otras son muy extrovertidas, pero familia es familia y solo desean lo mejor para ti.
Hay diferentes tipos de familias y por las vueltas que da el mundo en ocasiones nos separamos de ellas, nos toca migrar, algunas veces oportunidades otras es el destino, y vamos haciendo nuevas familias de amigos, de trabajo, de viajes y sobre todo de vida. Lo que nos vuelve familia son esos vínculos, esos que disfrutas cada vez que se presenta, los que compartes, con los que amas. Muchos de estos vínculos vienen de la mano de las tradiciones, y en esta oportunidad les traeré una tradición familiar.
My whole family cannot get together all the time, even though we try to share birthdays, graduations and achievements there is not an attendance from everyone, however, we get together between December 20th and 23rd, where the whole family can see each other's faces.

On this occasion, the tradition is the preparation of the Christmas Hallacas, a traditional Venezuelan dish that is passed on from generation to generation. This tradition takes a bit of everything, you listen to "the Gaitas" national music, you prepare the popular "Hallacas" and the most important thing is to share, remember and laugh.
A pleasant atmosphere with feelings of love and group work, "my family is a great team".
Mi familia entera no se puede reunir todo el tiempo, aunque tratamos de compartir los cumpleaños, las graduaciones y logros no hay una asistencia por parte de todos, sin embargo, nos reunimos entre el 20 al 23 de Diciembre, donde toda la familia se ve la cara.
En esta ocasión la tradición es la preparación de las Hallacas Navideñas, un plato tradicional venezolano que pasa de generación en generación. Esta tradición lleva de todo un poco, se escuchan “Las Gaitas” música nacional, se prepara las populares “Hallacas” y los más importante es el hecho de compartir, recordar y reír.
Un ambiente ameno con sentimientos de amor y trabajo grupal, “mi familia es un gran equipo”.
I'll take you to the context where this tradition takes place, where the place is my grandmother's house (the whole family has some good stories there), Matriarch of the family, mother who formed a great family full of love. Te llevaré al contexto donde se desarrolla esta tradición, donde el lugar es la casa de mi abuela (toda la familia tiene alguna historia buena ocurrida allí), Matriarca familiar, madre que formo una gran familia llena de amor. En este hogar uno de los nietos (normalmente yo) en el equipo de sonido a veces de la radio o en ocasiones descargadas coloca las gaitas, escuchamos “Volver A Casa” De Mario Cáceres, con una letra que habla del amor al hogar, a la familia y tener la oportunidad de estar en casa nuevamente, sentimientos y época decembrina.

For the preparation of this dish, responsibilities are assigned to each member of the family, however, it is always improvised and he who can contribute a little more does. Normally the men of the family fold and tie the hallacas, we also take care of the cooking of this food, the beauties of the house are in charge of the preparation of the different ingredients of the dish and filling the hallacas. All this is accompanied by jokes, stories, anecdotes, and drinks.
While the activity is taking place, we all collaborate on something, do something funny, or simply watch everything being prepared little by little. The table is prepared to set up the hallaca where the ingredients play a special role and give color to everything that is being done. Some of the ingredients are corn dough, capers, meat and pork stew, shredded chicken, raisins, olives, paprika, and many more. My family has the particularity of making some hallacas of black bean and one of the most important parts is to prepare this dish over previously roasted banana leaves.
Para la preparación de este plato se designan responsabilidades a cada miembro de la familia, sin embargo, siempre se improvisa y el que puede aportar un poco más lo hace. Normalmente los hombres de la familia doblamos y amarramos las hallacas, también nos encargamos de la cocción de este alimento, la hermosas de la casa son encargadas de la preparación de los diferentes ingredientes del plato y rellenar las hallacas. Todo esto acompañado de chistes, historias, anécdotas y copas.
Mientras se desarrolla la actividad todos colaboramos en algo, hacemos algo cómico o simplemente vemos se va preparando todo poco a poco. Se prepara la mesa para armar la hallaca donde los ingredientes juegan un papel especial y le da color a todo lo que se esta haciendo. Algunos de los ingredientes son la masa de maíz, alcaparras, guiso de carne y cochino, pollo desmechado, pasa, pasas, aceitunas, pimentón, y muchos más. Mi familia tiene la particularidad de hacer unas hallacas de caraotas y una de las partes más importantes es preparar este platillo sobre hojas de plátanos previamente asadas.
Although the tradition that unites us is the preparation of the hallacas, which gives value to this activity is the family union. For different circumstances at some point some ingredient has been missing, but never the family and this is what makes this tradition so beautiful and invaluable. Gathering together, meeting again, talking, sharing, all this is transformed into happiness. I feel proud and lucky for my big family.
Aunque la tradición que nos une es la preparación de las hallacas, lo que le da valor a esta actividad es la unión familiar. Por diferentes circunstancias en algún momento ha faltado algún ingrediente, pero nunca la familia y esto es lo que hace esta tradición tan hermosa e invaluable. Reunirnos, reencontrarnos, hablar, compartir, todo esto se transforma en felicidad. Me siento orgulloso y afortunado por mi gran familia.
Las tradiciones son un viaje en el tiempo para revivir grandes momentos, la ratificación de la familia, todo no saldrá perfecto y allí está la magia.
