Things Happen For Reasons

There are times when things will happen and you will begin to wonder why they happen. Well, just to let you know, there is nothing that happens that does not have a specific reason but most times, the human minds are only beclouded by the fact that they were not expecting it to happen, so they will not draw lessons from it. Just like everyone else, we all expect good things to happen. However, sometimes, they may be masked in challenges.

When challenges come to you, you should look way beyond them and rather focus on the reasons behind them. No wonder it has been said that "bad situation is a function of how the human mind has interpreted it". If you will be able to look beyond what your physical senses can detect, you will realise that even bad situations can teach good lessons.

How you perceive a situation will determine your response to the situation. I remember the experience a friend of mine once shared with me. A few years ago, he was to enlist into a particular academy. However, when he tried to get in, his application was turned down. At first, he felt very sad and discouraged because he had put in all his hopes on the academy. In his mind, he had almost given up the little hope he had.

When he shared the experience with his friend, he told him to find out the reason he was not accepted into the academy because if he did not find out, he may repeat the same thing and may be turned down again. When he made a research on why he was turned down, he discovered that a particular requirement was not met. He had to meet up with the requirement and applied again. That was how he got accepted into the academy. You see, if he had not found out the reason it happened the first time, it may happen again.

This is just to let you know that everyday we live, there is something that you can add up to your knowledge-base and even life itself is full of lessons to be learnt. The lessons in life can only be drawn out if you are open-minded to accept situations as they come and then respond to them appropriately. By appropriately, I mean, first knowing the reason behind it, then you will know how to respond to it.

One of the things that show that someone is becoming mature is when they learn to accept the things that they cannot change, then learn from that particular thing to be better, both in judgement, in perception and in decision making. One thing that distinguishes successful people from others is not the amount of opportunity they have but how they have responded to the opportunity. This is the reason you have to keep an open mind to respond to opportunities as they come.
