Market Friday- A glimpse of SM City Baguio

avatar

Good Day guys!

Before I start my post but I know it's a bit late, I just wanna say Happy Independence day to all of us Filipinos!

image.png

Let me show you a glimpse of the biggest mall here in Baguio City and how they are currently operating during this pandemic. This mall is called SM City Baguio. Here's one fun fact about our mall, this is the first ever SM Supermall which does not have an aircon in the common areas. I haven't gone here ever since the lockdown, the last time I went to SM was last March which was during my birthday. I went with my mom and siblings Let me share my experience. Before entering the mall, you could already see the ground which had yellow circles painted on the ground.

image.png

They painted this to promote social distancing. As I entered the mall, the guard disinfected my hands by using alcohol and he took my temperature and showed it to me and let me in.

image.png

This is what they did with their escalator, there are still social distancing circles and even in the escalator.

image.png

The escalator also had yellow foot marks to guide us where to stay while going up and down the elevator. The markers are every after 2 steps and it was even alternate from the right to the left.

image.png

Even, going inside the bathrooms, they had those yellow circles.

image.png

It was so stupid of me not to read the sign below because I tried entering it and an employee stopped me and said that this is for females only. I was actually used to using the restroom there before.

image.png

We were going to the grocery and as soon as you enter the main floor, there were arrows all around the floor indicating the flow of traffic.

image.png

This is the Super Market, as you can see all of those people who were sitting were waiting for their turn to enter the grocery.

image.png

It just feels so weird not to see so much of a crowd, because if it were a normal day, this place would be jamppacked with people walking everywhere.

image.png

As you can see, this is the new normal. Most of the shops had Plastic covers infront of their stalls. They even had a basket for transacting.

image.png

They had their own Sanitation Team. When the guards let the people who are waiting enter. All the plastic seats were being sanitized by their team so it would be ready for the next batch of people who would wait and see.

image.png

I had to line up so I could help my mom push the cart while she was doing our groceries.

image.png

I noticed that most of the employees who are working under this establishment were wearing a mask and a face shield.

Here are some shots inside the Super Market.

As I entered the Atrium of the Mall, I was wondering why there were so many chairs. It was a central pickup station. This is how it works, the first step is to browse the store/ Resto guide through social media. The second step is to contact the store or restaurant. Step 3 Pay the exact amount thru available payment scheme. The last step is to proceed in the pick up station on arranged pick up time. The management actually made it more convenient. As you can see the barber's in the left side were all using PPE's, mask and face shield.

image.png

This was how it looked like from the top.

image.png

I finally was able to see this view again overlooking some parts of our City. Though it was foggy because there's currently a tropcial depression that's hitting us right now.

image.png

image.png

image.png

The view from here you could see Burnham's Athletic bowl, where most people train.

image.png

Burnham's Melvin Jones, the last time I was here there were people who were playing football. They also host some concerts in this ground.

image.png

Burnham lake, this is where tourist boat before.

image.png

The City Hall of Baguio.

image.png

Everywhere I went there would be a guard guiding the people and holding signs to remind us of social distancing. As you can see in the floor it's full of paintings for the flow.

image.png

Before we left there was an employee holding a sign two steps apart please.

image.png

Whatever they did with this escalator fascinated me. I'm glad that this mall is also doing a great job during this pandemic. There is actually one thing that I learned when I visited this mall and it was patience. Patience is what you need because everywhere you go there will always be a socially distanced line.

image.png

I actually missed going to this mall but I wouldn't go there again until it's necessary.

Thanks for reading and Stay safe always!

Wow! This is exactly as it should be done right now and it is so refreshing to see a country taking it seriously and the people adhering to the rules! I know it seems like a lot of rules and regulations and a lot of trouble, but, the places where they let people run amok, their numbers have gone up significantly. So, this is a pain, but, lucky for you, they care enough to take good care of you.

But, you are right!!! I'm not going anywhere soon! That is just crazy! You have to want it really bad to go there! Sometimes, I am okay with doing without! :)

Thanks for joining! I appreciate the love and support you are giving to #MarketFriday! Without you and people like yourself, I wouldn't be able to have such a successful challenge! I know that it is one of those challenges that take a lot of time and effort to be part of, so it means a lot to me that you participate. Thank you again for being a part of all this and I hope that you will, indeed, have a great day and week ahead!
