I am still strong

Very early before sunrise, with the cold of the morning and the silence of the night, Mrs. Ana dedicates herself to collecting the firewood to set up the bonfire and cook for the family.

That is her story, the story of her life, when she lived in the countryside surrounded by cows, chickens, pigs, and any other farmyard animal, it was her turn to wake up at 4 a.m. to milk the cows and prepare breakfast.

She had a difficult life, being the daughter of a strong man and a submissive mother, she learned to obey and work constantly.

She had no great aspiration for life, was happy working the land and tending the animals, but grew up and fell in love with a good man that she believed would give her good children and necessary company to live well.

But she was wrong; this man was an adventurer, in love with any woman that would pass by him closely, but Ana, as a submissive woman like her mother and her mother's mother, believed that it should be so.

A man could have as many women as he wanted and abuse them; Ana devoted herself to give birth and birth, without control because she was not in the civilization, could not control the gestation, while he enjoyed, she took care of her children and their education.

Ana from her father inherited a large fortune that left him land and cattle, her life could change and go to the city, but her husband told her that she had to trust him and in his hands, she left all her capital.

In less than a few years he bankrupted her, without explaining what he did, she remained very calm, Mrs. Ana could not even claim, she was very afraid of him, she was not going to hit him.

So she was left without any of the inheritance, and in family homes as a servant she had to work to support her children and live with dignity.

The children grew up on her side, only two stayed and still did not help her, she looks for firewood by herself despite her age, it is 90 years that she already has in her record.

I do not know how much longer she can endure this unjust life that she has had to endure.

The story you just read is part of the BDCommunity contest "A picture speaks a thousand words".

You had to write a fictional story based on an image, what you read is fiction with small shades of truth.

If you want to participate and see the rules of the contest I will gladly leave you the link to the publication.

For this contest I want to invite @marybellrg.

To complete the story, but with reality, the lady in the photo who is from my property is my grandmother and has a senile memory, she plays with wood and always picks it up from one place and takes it to another, the family presumes it is remembering her life and her country habits.

She is very loved and if she is 90 years old, that's if she is real 🤪😂

Amazing! Grandmothers are the true superheroes of our reality. So much strength and wisdom. I like your story very much. It reminds me of my grandmother and how she can't get herself to rest even one bit.

Hehehe thanks, I am very lucky because both my grandmothers are still alive, the one in the picture is 90 years old and the other 96.

Greetings, 🤗😉 @bertrayo

Heartbreaking story. Ana's story is the story of so many brave and humble women who were trampled by a machista society. Their lives are a monument to sacrifice beyond sanctity. They still abound unfortunately, now more than ever living lives of solitude and indiference. You've done a great job paying this homage to Doña Ana.

Wuaooo a great comment, which could well be the perfect ending to my story.

I look forward to including it 😉😂.

Thank you! And the story was born because when I saw her holding the wood, I took the picture and every person who sees it, feels a feeling of sadness, of compassion.

When the reality is that she is entertaining her mind, playing with the wood.

Thank you for visiting me, supporting me, commenting on me and rebloguear.

A big hug 🤗😘 @hlezama

Feel free to use it :)
Interesting thing what you say about what being active means for these elders. O e of the things that has affected my mother is precisely her impossibility to be physically active. She would not have mind to reach 80 cooking on a fogón, as long as she felt useful. She can't walk without assistance now and that too has affected her mind.
That generation was born to always be active

Geez @soyunasantacruz ,
How quickly you must have forgotten how fair and honest I am with contests I run or you are just playing with me. I'm going to venture a guess it is the latter of the two.
Have a great day,
Sult

Sure you can mi senorita. The USA in danger right now of a takeover by socialist / marxist people and I did a recent Dash pointing out how we in the USA were once the pinnacle of freedom but have slipped to number 15 in the world as far as freedom ranking world wide.

I know that out of 162 countries in the rankings that VZ ranks next to last in freedom at 161. I would like for my fellow country folks to know exactly what we can look forward to if we let these corrupt people succeed like has been done in your country.

No one knows better than the people (you and your people) on how life is in a country without freedom and I am hoping that I will get several people in VZ to explain how life is in when a dictator is in control. All the stories I have heard out of VZ are that it a beautiful country but life is miserable, with shortages of food etc.

So just an honest story of how life is. I might be wrong and life might be perfect in VZ so hearing it straight from the people that live there is the best way I know how to shed some light on the potential future that might be in store for the USA.

I hope ya'll submit a story,
Sult

Ah ok interesting, the stories you have heard are true, Venezuela has fallen into an abysmal backwardness in the last 22 years, electrical rationing, shortage of domestic gas, gasoline, food.

The quality of life has fallen in an abysmal way.

About the labels, there is no special one that makes us read a publication.

I believe that the only way to find out about your publication would be to offer a good prize, because we Venezuelans who are on the run, are looking to solve the economic problem.

Thank you for your invitation, but I I abstain from participating, because I am focusing on abundance and spirituality, if I write about scarcity, complaint and guilt I will not be congruent with my discourse.

I am creating a new belief system that will allow me to emerge in spite of my surroundings.

Thank you very much, and I sincerely hope that your contest and the future of your country will go well.

Knowing about your grandmother... I'm remembering my grandma who had to work so hard for a long time till she died around 3years back.
I lived beside her all my life and witnessed her sorrows myself.
We were so poor back then so my grandma had to endure such bad times and I wish she is alive in my good time.

Well written the story... it's actually the fate of a lot of peoples.
