been a while

Its been a while since i did a post, so I thought i would do a quick update post to let you all know I haven't fallen off the face of the planet

Ok I guess I should explain what this photo is of, this is one of three Easter themed Cross stitches I did recently, and I had meant to do a post over Easter weekend to share them but time slipped away from me.

I used to do cross stitch to relax a few years back but hadn't done any for quite a while, with Lulu ( my wife) being hope and initially limited in what she could do, I didn't want to be disappearing upstairs on the computer or going out for photo walks my focus of attention was being around her to help her whenever she needed, so sitting on the couch by her a lot I decided to get back into cross stitch again and started these projects and have a few more planned, I did these one son plastic canvas and glued a felt backing and have them hanging in a corner walls in our dining room, and the plan is slowly to build up a few sets of three matching designs so we can change periodically what ones we have up on the wall

Here is the next Cross stitch in this Easter themed set

I mentioned photo walks, my camera has literally not bene out of its bag for a few months, and i just thought as I was typing i must charge up its batteries, as when it warms up a little we plan to start getting out for walks by the water here its will be good exercise for Lulu and for me for that matter, and I will be able to get out shooting again.

Speaking of Lulu she is doing pretty well, very well actually considering how long she was in hospital, the fact that we almost lost her a couple of times, she is walking well without a walking stick now and the hip is feeling pretty good ( if you missed it in a previous post, she had a fall and broke her hip and had full replacement surgery on one side)

She also had a reaction to Heparin, which is a blood thinner very commonly given after surgery, which caused extensive blood clotting in her arms and chest, which required two more surgeries to clear out, luckily it did and saved her hands which they were worried aat one stage she may loose, her right hand is pretty good now and her left hand improving but still away to go and a lot more physical therapy will be needed.

and the last cross stitch in this series

I guess I should give an update on myself, I am doing well, had a small surgery myself to remove some skin cancer from above my right eye, it went well, and is healing well will leave hardly any scar.

I remember someone telling me you have less free time when you retire which I always thought wasn't going to be the case but it seems with me it has been, but I am enjoying retirement and do hope to try and be a bit more regular doing posts soon

Cheers all :)

And that’s all folks

Good to hear from you brother. Conversely... good to hear about your recovery, as well as your wife's! I've been dealing with my own problems; Multiple Sclerosis is flaring which has caused me to lose my ability to drive... and pretty much walk. But we keep going yes?

Wonderful post and great job on the needlepoint buddy!

Always nice to hear from you. Nicer when you bring good tidings of health and recovery for you and wife. Keep safe and keep up the good work on your needle point. I tried to do that too. Had a good front look but the back was a mess. I gave it up :)

Hope to hear from you soon and hopefully, more often too.

Dang, you have definitely been very busy! I used to do plastic canvas and cross stitch when I was younger as well. My mom is a very crafty person, so it kind of rubbed off on me. I haven't touched the stuff in years though. She still does a lot of knitting and crocheting. I never picked either of those up. Anyway. I am glad to hear that you all ar doing well. I hope you are able to get out and about soon. It is a great time to be sharing your photos on Hive!

Glad to hear all is improving with Lulu, and that right eye surgery, did they use skin from your inner elbow for the patch? I had about a quarter size skin cancer removal above my right eye a few years back, (2016 Feb). It still feels weird and itches a lot sometimes, even that squishy wet feeling under the patch part every now and then. I lost half of the eyebrow with my surgery so have a one eye Spock look but it really is not that bad. I get a lot of very fine hairs that grow from the patch and I never remember to trim them until they start to poke my eye.

We still have a ton of snow here and I kind of got tired of taking snow pictures, but the driveway snow is thinning we can see ground and dirt in patches on it so Spring is still almost here.

Luckily this one they didn’t need to do a patch for me actually so far none of my skin surgeries require a patch so I have been lucky
Looking forward to spring taking hold

Everybody says that you have last time when you retire, but honestly I don't think I've ever heard anybody say they get more time. They start catching up on all the things they didn't do while they were working.

You have been so busy since the day you retired. I'm so glad that things are looking up for Lulu and yourself. Because what affects her, also affects you in many ways. You have been doing a great job with the cross stitch and I like the idea of rotating them around.

It seems unbelievable to me that you have not picked up the camera, but I can tell you from taking care my dad that when you have a sick person that you are giving your 100% to oh, the camera is actually the last thing that you're thinking of. The only thing you want to do is make the other person well again. You are an amazing husband and I know that she is an amazing wife so I would say that it is a match made in heaven. I am glad you're thinking about going out to get him and taking walks and I am exceedingly happy to hear that she has left the walking stick behind. There is something redeeming about walking in sunshine and I know that as soon as it gets warm enough to do that you will be out among nature, watching Lulu blossom with all that vitamin D!

I'm happy to see a new post from you, especially with the news that things are looking better for you and Lulu. I'm adjusting to retirement as well. Seems like the days are shorter, but I guess that's because I'm not up as early as I used to be for work. Take care, my friend. All the best to you and your wife.

Just glad that you guys are okay JJ and still in our prayers.
Also glad of course that Lulu is improving and it will take time, but luckily time is what you have.
Now if you were to ask me what cross stitching is about I wouldn't know Arfa from Marfa.
This is how some of our locals pronounce Arthur or Martha, meaning that I have no clue.

But it looks fabulous and well done mate. Glad that we will also see some of your famous photos in posts again.

Keep safe brother and all blessengs to you guys.

Good to hear you are on the planet and doing well. Good to hear Lulu is making progress. I hope the pandemic hasn’t kept you from enjoying the grandkids. I became a grandfather last year and it’s great. I went off Steemit a couple of years ago and just returned to find that everyone that I used to hang with has moved to Hive. Retirement is great. I can’t imagine having to work through the pandemic. Be well.

Hi @tattoodjay. Good to hear from you and your update on what's happening in your life. I am glad that you and your wife and doing well despite the difficulties.

If I hadn't been addicted to the computer, I would be doing cross-stitch too.

It is true that when you retire you have no free time. I am constantly amazed that people have enough time to hold a full time job, and accomplish so many other things. Where do they get their time from, I wonder.

Keep well, and we hope to hear from you again before too long. Cheers! 😊

Cross stitching, Easter theme turned out amazing, a great way to keep yourself busy whilst being close to Lulu spending quality time together.

Both recovering looking forward to taking short walks, wonderful news to take yourselves outdoors!

Never ever enough time in a day to complete everything, somehow time escapes once out of rigorous routine of earlier years, strange but true, it happens to all of us.

It is wonderful to hear from you again… I had wondered where you went a couple of weeks ago I posted Wednesday walk and I thought about you but I hadn't seen anything active on here. Thank you for letting me know about your wife. I'm glad she's improving! I'll pray for her healing. I'm also glad that they removed your skin cancer, too. I look forward to seeing your photos again!

Hi JJ,

I'm not much on the Hive at the moment, so I have seen your post only today on Twitter.

It's so great to hear from you and to read these positive news about you and Lulu. Hopefully she will recover completely soon and you both can enjoy walks in the nature together again. Hopefully your camera has not forgotten how to take photos 😂

My mother used to do a lot cross stitching and I hated the table cloths and other things she made. But your stitching work is very different from the traditional designs she made. It looks cool and funny - so I could imagine to have yours in the apartment, but don't tell her 😉

I hope to hear from you soon again with even better news. In the meantime I'm wishing you two all the best, my friend 😊

Hi @tattoodjay, I too have been away from Hive for what turned out to be 4 months. Loved the break and was more than ready to come back. Catching up with bloggers that I have come to know has been a delight. I too am in retirement and I too find it hard to get everything done in my spare time, a most common dilemma for retirees. Glad to hear that your wife is recovering, she has certainly been through the mill.
Regards
Angie
