St Josephs Church

St Josephs Church

On one of my walks while my wife was at the salon with our daughter in Law I walked along Acushnet Ave her in New Bedford and passed by this Church, well I think it is called St Josephs but looking online I see it is for the St. Joseph & St. Therese Parish and I got a few shots and I thought what better day to share them than on a Sunday when people normally go for Sunday Service.

I say normally as with COVID things have changed some churches are doing online services, and some people where the Church is open are avoiding going ona Sunday when the attendance and instead go on a week day when the crowd is smaller and Social distancing is maintained easier.

Thats what we did this week, went to a mass on Monday at another church, I did take shots of that after the service and will share that church in the future, but back to St Joseph's Church.

I did wonder when this church was built, it looks fairly modern, and I had no luck finding out when it was built and opened

I took a few shots from various angels, well that's what I always do I guess and you all know that about me by now lOL

And this next shot shows the doors, which I have been slack with getting shots of recent, but here are three, and above the main Door it has the name Joseph and hence why I thought it was called St Josephs Church

Sam and I went and visited a church today too. Sorta. We walked within a few hundred feet of St. John Neuman church this morning while early Mass was in session.

It's a beautiful building. Modern but not post modern looking. St. John Neuman looks like a really large, fancy barn. But much to their credit they are putting solar panels up on the roof. Their covered parking has had panels for a couple of years.

Thanks for a Sunday sort of walk!

I just googled it to take a look and I see what you mean it does look like a kind of fancy barn
Thats great they had solar, we checked out to put in solar on our new house, but to get enough sun on them we would have to cut down a couple of trees which were not keen on doing

That's a beautiful church, JJ - I can't remember to have seen such a bright or orange/beige colored church before. Looks really modern somehow, as you say, cool.

It looks warm and inviting somehow - not like the churches we have here which are beautiful, but cold.

That is a pretty impressive building. Our church finally opened up to regular services this past week. I still do not plan on attending. I will stick with online. I think that things are still to risky. Especially given my daily exposure at work. The last thing I need is to be on some contact tracers naughty list.

We will probably go on MOndays or Tuesdays as we did last week it was pretty quiet, we asked the preist and on Weekends they are filled to overflow so we will avoid that

and yes good to stay off any lists these day s

I love churches. And I think it is because growing up, many memories were from activities that involved a ceremony held in Curches, in addition to going to church every Sunday and many Church celebrations. The St Joseph Church looks imposing. And your photos make it look massive.
Do you know if they have the traditional Church bells, and I wonder if they use them? My Parish Church does... and come to think of it... all the churches of parishes I belonged to in the past had church bells.
Thanks for sharing Church photos which brought back numerous happy and great memories on my growing up years!
Take care, my friend, @tattoodjay🥰🌺🤙

I am not sure if that church has Bells, The one we have been to is more modern and I think has bells but i will look and check next time I go, the one we volunteer for at the food bank, is an older church with a spire and Bells I have yet to get shots of that

As for going to church after my Son died during childbirth, even though I was still what I consider to be religious, I stopped going to church but we have decided to start again, but with COVID Sunday services is busy, so we will go instead on Weekdays

You to take care
