Some Things NEVER Change... Mini-Reunion With My High School "Barkada"

On December 1, 2005... I was able to meet some friends for life. :) It was just a couple months since I transferred to a new high school. It was in the middle of my third year when I got to be with some really awesome people. They weren't the first friends I met, but as I spent more time in the new environment, I became closer to a certain group of different individuals.

December 1 was the very day we officially considered ourselves "barkada". We experienced a lot of crazy stuff that day and we'll never forget that. We call ourselves, DAGAS. It could be "the gas" since we are literally everywhere lol or in vernacular daga(s), means a group of unmarried women. Actually, that came from our family name initials. haha

I made these chibi version of the five of us around five years ago. One of our friends, "D", is married and is currently living in the US. She went home to the Philippines that time and all the other four decided to make a scrapbook for her. So, I drew this to be included in our scrapbook. Well, below is how we all actually look like. lol

Based on my chibi drawings, can you guess who is who?? haha Anyway, we haven't met each other (I mean all five of us) for a long time now. "D" is in the US and "S" is kind of MIA. We haven't really kept in touch with her, but we know she's just around somewhere. I guess the last time I saw her was about 3 years ago?

I'm in constant communication with the other "A" and "G", though. And just yesterday, they both visited me at home.

G is already married with three kids, so it's kind of difficult for her to really hangout like before. However, she had to go somewhere without the kids yesterday, so she took the opportunity to come over. Because of that, we also contacted the other "A" to hangout. I left my afternoon schedule vacant and decided to just work at night. Luckily, the other "A"'s shift is also at night so we could spend whole afternoon together.

We talked and tried to catch up as much as we could. G bought us boxes of pizza and I offered them some ice cream. Very unhealthy, isn't it? hahaha It's our cheat day together! Mama also ordered some "Siomai" from our neighbor, so we had it for dinner before they went home.

In that short amount of time, we were able to relive our high school days. We have struggled and succeeded together. And even now that we are already adults, we still got each other's backs. I really miss D and S, and I hope to see them again. It might be a little difficult for S due to some circumstances, but maybe if D is around, S would also come out. They're besties after all. <3

In the end, there's no better way than spending time with your friends in person. Yes, the modern world makes it easier to keep in touch, but it's still different when you're actually communicating face to face. I'm glad to have these people around. It makes me miss my bestie, though... I miss you @akielle -nee!!!! <3
