Mistakes that stay forever.

Ever since the outbreak of the pandemic, I moved to my family house in the capital city where I got the chance to stay with some of my nephews. Most of them are within the age of 12, 14, and the oldest of them is 17. And whenever I ask them some basic questions about life, they usually answer me with naïve responses. I would smile because I was like that, but I won’t let them do what I did.

What I noticed is that most of them behave as I used to when I was that age, but they do more because of the exposure of technology and the ways the world is turning every day. They know what I did not know in their age, but they lack many things and they focus on the wrong sides.

When I was 17, I put much focus on listening to Lil Wayne, Birdman, Chris Brown and the rests just to sing along with them whenever I play the song in my house or on the street. One day, someones asked me why I put so many efforts on them, I said — it is a prestige to sing along with them. (Stupid mindset)

I had almost everything I needed and I need not think deeply or focus on the things that matter. Instead, I focused on singing with people that are making millions with their voice and I mimicked their ways.

Don’t put energy into useless things.

@-justine made a tweet on the 5th of July about how she pierced her belly button when she was 16 and she only wore it for 6 months. But the scar is still there now, in her 30s. She shared a moral lesson about it, and I really love what she wrote.

Some of us are in our 20s, 30s, or 40s, but still, put attention on irrelevant things or does things without thinking about the outcome effects. You take hours on the social media following reality shows, celebrity gists that won’t hand you a dime or put food on your table. You may find it fun while it is not adding any value to your life.

Denzel Washington wrote — don’t mistake movement with progress, and because you are doing a lot more doesn’t mean you are getting a lot more done.

I will quote Justine words again

Moral of the story: the dumb shit you do has longterm consequences. Check your time preferences yo!

The things you do or put your effort on have long-time effects on you. Jeff Benzon got to the 200 billion dollars milestone while some people are arguing about Chris Brown and Tyga or how Nicki got pregnant. You need your energy for things more value, maybe people that think like you now can argue about you.

Use your energy well.

Instead of watching celebrity gist — invest the time in learning more and improve your life.

Instead of singing along with Cardi B throughout your day — get a book that could improve your business.

Instead of arguing about Ronaldo and Messi — invest the time to brainstorm and think of how you could improve your life.

You need fun but don’t get lost in it.

I'm 24 and keep doing what I was doing 8 years ago, spending all that I earn or receive for things that I needed momentarily :/ No savings, no real assets.

Yes, I'm practicing self-control. There are things I think that are my needs, but turns out that it's only temporary.

Those are my scars, my previous extravagance that are hurting my current state life.

Great posts... I'm so glad that I didn't do some dumb things (on my body) like some of my friends did when we were younger... It was just a thing to be recognized in the group, to show yourself... kids-stuff... And those mistakes, people are paying whole their life...

Also, you have touched the point of the role-models and totally agree about that... kids have really bad role-models today, and follow them blindly isn't the smart thing to do...
