The Art Of Maintenance

The art of maintenance

Hello hivers

For a while now I have being bringing you update about my 🌽 farm, it's progress from day one up to this particular moment. From it's planting:
https://hive.blog/hive-148441/@zion-francis/growing-corn-in-my-family-farm to a point where fertilizer application is done and how it is done

Today I want to talk about something very important that every Farmer should and must do if he or she wants to have a very good harvest. It is called maintenance, yes maintenance

Maintenance generally is one very important aspect of every human life. For example, a car owner has to make it a habit of taking proper care of his car for the car's proper function if not he or she might just be driving one day to some place very important and then boom the car will just break down in the middle of nowhere. Or should we talk about for example let's say a nuclear plant, sometimes when I listen to the news and I hear the amount of work put in just to maintain a nuclear plant I'll just wow at every effort put into such just to Avert any unforeseen circumstances.
Even the human body itself needs proper maintaining for it to function to a certain level of performance. You as a human can't feed your body with less nutritious food, work all day like a bull, give yourself no time to rest and expect your body to withstand all of that. Sooner or later your body will basically tell you enough is enough I ain't gon' do this no more.

That is all by the way though. For a few weeks I have being down health wise and this has impacted my every day activity. From taking an induced break from trading in the forex market, to my daily exercise and to my farm, yes my beloved 🌽 farm.

With me being bed ridden, there was no way I could keep an eye on my 🌽 farm, not to talk of even giving it the necessary attention and maintenance it needs. Before I got ill, there was a certain portion of my 🌽 farm where weeds has grown and fertilizer had not been applied as well and all through my time at home I was worried because I know the implication of all that on the corn field.

Well my worry was confirmed when I got to my farm yesterday. The portion where I had unintentionally abandoned due to my ill health was looking horrible. There was so much weed in it dominating the 🌽, the fact that no fertilizer was applied made it look worse infact it was not a site to behold.

Here are some of the things I observed:

  • Stunted growth: there was this huge and massive difference between the portion of my 🌽 farm which was well maintained and that which wasn't even though they were planted the same day

  • Yellowish coloration: the portion of my 🌽 farm that was not maintained was having this somewhat yellow color as against the usual lush green color.

A clear difference between picture A and B

  • Sickly look: there was this unexplained sickly look this not maintained portion of my 🌽 farm had

  • Disease infestation: out of all the things I saw, the infestation of disease on this particular portion weakened me the most

  • Dry leaves: in a normal and we'll maintained 🌽 farm, the leaves of the 🌽 are always green and beautiful to behold. This was not the case for this not maintained portion of my 🌽 farm. Most of the leaves were dried up.

All these are what I noticed and the lack of proper maintenance has adversely affected this portion of my 🌽 farm.

I have come to a conclusion that for every individual, having a good maintenance culture is needed not just for things around us but also for our bodies because if it is not properly maintained, feed good meal, giving to exercise, proper rest then it is just a matter of time before the unwanted result shows up.

Thank you all for viewing my post and I hope this will encourage you all to give in to a good and proper maintenance culture in all areas of your life.

You don't strike me as a forex trader but who am I to say that? I like your post, it's detailed and showed me something. I can see you don't get much attention. Keep it up and keep going!

Welllll, I do trade in the forex market but I mostly don't talk about it. Its more like a silent part of my life if I may say. I'd like to describe myself as the everywhere man. Here is just a little of it

Cover your planting area with straw and mulch, there will be no grass. This will also make a better crop next year without fertilizer. The best fertilizer on earth is worm castings. They are very simple to grow.

Cheers

Wow, I have never heard of worm castings before. I'll make sure I have a go at it when next am planting. Thanks for the suggestion and also taking out time to read

Here in my country I can say 80 to 90 percent of farmers use fertilizer for thier plants

Same in the U.S. however many people are using more regenerative and organic processes for health benefits.
