It's listening???? yep. Welcome to 2021, Dreem.

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

*This is my first time using 3speak! LOL so forgive me if I'm not doing this correctly! *

First of all, I know that devices are often listening. And I get that we have things in our house that we CHOOSE to have listening to us.

Ok? So - just - stop there.

I GET IT. We are in 2021. I get it.

But I didn't think I had one!!! THAT is the point of this post. I prefer typing when I can (I don't know why - I just do, maybe it's just my comfort zone) I don't prefer to tell my computer to open something. I just like to do it myself. Maybe, it's partially because when we become over dependent on a device to do a simple task for us, we forget just how simple it is. And what happens when we don't have Alexa, Cortana, Siri - or my new friend - the nameless robot LOL Then we're screwed. So I just usually do things on my own. Thanks for the thought, robots - but I'm good.

Now.... before I continue

We have all these debates and discussions and arguments out there about whether or not our devices are listening to us. People SWEAR that they didn't TYPE something into their computer, they were just in the car when they TALKED about an item to a friend - and then - VOILA... their phones are now showing ads for "sugar free whipped cream" and travel deals to "see the Northern Lights".

And people go back and forth... ohhhhhh you probably DID write it in a browser. ohhhhhhhh you might have clicked an ad. It's like some people just DO NOT LIKE the idea that our devices are listening, and they have to come up with every possible other scenario how data is being shared. I just read this incredible breakdown of how our phones have locations turned on, and sync up with people we are near. So now the AI has built this entire network around you - and they've added your nearby friend to it - and now everything that THEY have accessible on their phone is now connected with you.

Makes perfect sense. Could be that's how it is. Maybe in those cases, the phones/devices/robots 😆 are NOT listening. Maybe they still are, and now there is more permission that we've given to access more. ok. cool.

NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT.

Debate all you want - I'm not talking about that.

I'm talking about when you DO have something in your house listening to you, and you don't even know it. (until you're alone in your house, and it freaking speaks to you)

Yesterday, @sofs-su and I were talking about AI. She had me intrigued because she had worked on an AI project for about 10 months, and then stopped for her own reasons. I'll let her tell about that in her own post! But it's just odd and funny that this next thing happened about an hour ago.

Please note: As I mentioned, I rarely actively give devices the authority to listen. Apparently, if you don't know they are listening (and they are)... and you haven't DISABLED that feature somehow, it seems you HAVE GIVEN them authority to listen by default.

I haven't seen the need to abolish them! (yet haha) So please don't misunderstand. I live in the modern world, so I've been around plenty of people who use them, and I've occasionally turned on a random light in my mom's house with them. I'm not afraid of them. I think they're interesting. and even hilarious. (Have you ever seen the YouTube of the kids who ask Alexa to tell them a scary bedtime story??? HYSTERICAL. LOOK IT UP!!! lol You will die laughing LOL)

So I know their names.
I know generally how to activate them.

But what about when you have a nameless robot that is in the house with you, and you never even knew it was there. and it's listening. LOL (You know that chasing light that Alexa does to let you know she's actively listening? I noticed that same light pattern, which made me pause.)

How do you turn THAT mess off with your voice activated device. LOLOLOL Hello? Robot? What's your name. Tell me your name. Go off. Hello? ROBOT!

The video below(I guess it shows up below?? lol will find that out soon!) - happened about an hour ago. I typed in the captions(sorta) so you can follow along.

Welcome to 2021, peeps.
Get to know your unknown robots' names. LOLOLOL

which is SO weird.
you always think my music is loud - when you listen to music SO LOUD.

i think its not about the volume, its about preference LOL

any music that you don't like - is loud hehehehe

Cortana? Alexa? Sounds like Pen-Bot pushed the "listen" button on the device 😂.

That was so funny. Your reaction is second to none. I guess, it was also creepy but that's the world we live in. We can only imagine the type of rapport that will be in existence between humans and robots in the nearest future.

That nameless robot is on a whole new level. Seems like it's the teaser of our Red Belt K... 😂

Lololo... Seems like l've got a boat to catch. Can't miss the naming ceremony of this robot 😂.

Just don't be the alpha. Allow it to be turned on while it captures as many intel as possible.

Welcome to the bot generation ✌️

Doesn't it mean we are invaded without knowing it... ! It is hilarious at the same time it is alarming.
My brother told me he went to a company's ooffice and after a few hours google asked him how was his experience. Perhaps his device detected his exact location. Oh my God! We are surrounded by an army and we don't feel any discomfort for this

That's the real thing, isn't it.

Do we feel discomfort anymore???? Or are we so desensitized!

I think most of us are very very desensitized. It's like we have been motivated to allow these things into our lives with fun and assistance and convenience. so that as it wormed its way into our security - we never even put up any barriers.

very strange feeling to have that happen to me yesterday when I was completely unaware LOL

When you were unaware and you recently had a conversation on the topic. Lol. Doesn't it feel like a movie script? ☺

no no...
I was unaware that the speaker had the ability to listen. LOL

i didn't realize it was connected to "Hey Google" commands! hahahaha

I mean - I was aware that devices have that ability - but I didn't know THAT device had it. I thought it was just a speaker that allowed you to amplify music from your phone or device!!! LOL

until it spoke to me! hahahahah

Hmm, just the tip of the iceberg. We have eyes and ears watching us all the time. Not guardian angels I assure you.
My husband got Alexa as a thank you gift for some work he had done. We never used it. I just can't stand these things listening in to our private conversations.
Some of the videos where kids use Alexa for songs are not hilarious they are scandalous. Privacy and security sacrificed at the altar of convenience. Welcome to the world of AI

What do you mean where they use Alexa for songs??? I'm confused - tell me more!!!
hahahaha
i'm waiting for this post of yours!

and yes - my daughter came to watch my video - and she's like yeah mom - I knew it coudl do that! you're silly!

i'm like - i really didn't know!

then she said - doesn't your phone talk to you too? I said - i don't use that feature.

she's like - yeah you just have to say Hey Google.

and both her phone and my phone were on the bed - and they BOTH chimed in and were talking back to us.

its just really all around us

I mean when kids request Alexa for some rhyme or song, since they speak baby language Alexa interprets their words in whichever way it wants and plays porn.
Check this out

Good for this kid his parents were around.

Edit
My post is almost done, I'll edit it and post it tomorrow I guess. More than one post a day doesn't seem to work well here.
