The Medicine Of death
It was the year twenty-five hundred(2500)
"So I'm still alive?" Gabriel joked, turning to face his wife who was lying with her back turned to him. He allowed the blanket fall in-between them as he cuddled her
"I never believed you'd stay alive this long without coffee" She replied and they both laughed.
The change in climate with a long lasting drought had led to the extinction of coffee in Netherland and its neighboring countries, people found a compliment for their favorite tea but not Gabriel whom nothing tasted good to him like his favorite cinnamon tea. Each morning he said a prayer hoping for a downpour but it seemed his prayer faded out with the smoke, until he just had to live waiting for another season when the evergreen trees would flourish again.
One fateful day, the scorching sun was unbearable for Gabriel who was in the railway track fixing some broken metals,
"Damn this drought" he cursed, all sweaty and needed a shade to hide himself before the sun went down. He walked a little, away from the track into a path that led to a tree that casted a shadow from its broad leaves. He kept his gaze wandering around the small woods when he noticed a sealed vacuum beside what looked like a mud hut.

He walked closer and forced the vacuum open with a pitcher from one of his tools. The smell of coffee saturated the air, in a rush he split open the remaining seal to reveal its content, alas! It was coffee. He almost screamed on top of his voice but held it back. His work was over for that day as she squeezed the medium size vacuum to fit his work bag.
"I could sense something good, it's been long you had such a smile on your face" his wife said, as she welcomed him. He only blushed the more,
"Woman, can I have a steam water?"
His wife looked at him in disbelief, it was his way of saying i want to take some coffee. She pretended not to have heard him as she turn around and continue with her choir
"Woman, I say, can I have a steam water?" He repeated, this time waving at her a bean of coffee seed.
"Where did you....?"
"Don't ask, I'll tell you when I'm alive" she chuckled and prepared the coffee just the way he wanted it.

The smell of the coffee filled the room, as Gabriel sipped it gradually,
"I wouldn't rush, I want to remember this moment for a lifetime". His wife couldn't help smiling, Gabriel was a good joke while drinking coffee. He breathed out with each sip and He allowed the bittersweet taste of the coffee to satisfy his thirst. He steamed the coffee in interval and was pleased just watching the steamed vapor, he gulped a cupful of the coffee and once again he felt alive.
"Now, let me tell you a tale of how I got the medicine for my death," He said.
He narrated the tale to her while on his table drinking the coffee.

Good day.
That's true especially for people who are addicted to it
Wow, it is nice knowing he finally felt alive drinking is favourite brewed coffee. It is beautiful to see him converse with his wife.
Yeah, coffee is like a Medicine to many
That's true
It must have been a lucky day for Gabriel, If I was in his shoes, I wouldn't finish up the coffee that day, probably, a sip for each day that comes by. 25 years is not children's play at all
Lol. A sip sounds good
