Sublime Sunday - A HOUSE AND GARDEN ... SOMEWHERE ALONG THE ROAD TO NOWHERE IN PARTICULAR ...

I went for a ride after lunch ... but not today, these shots were taken one Sunday at the end of spring ... I was very loosely directed north from where I live ...

... following the narrow country lanes that flow between small villages and even smaller farms and similar settlements, some still inhabited, others abandoned.

I stopped by this old house surrounded by green, partially covered with lush growth of ivy, after an hour or so of slow and aimless driving with some music on... stretched my legs a bit ...

... and visited the wild garden with many thorns.

I saw many roses ...

... and all of them were wild.

Rosa canina is the name of the species.

The fennel was also growing there, and I found this caterpillar on it. It was shaped a lot like the common European swallowtail caterpillar, a species very common on this plant, but was also pretty different in colors and patterns. This caterpillar is still a mystery to me, so I will try to summon mister @faltermann :) to help me here.

A bit further, on the meadows outside the garden, I saw many flowers and insects ... but ...

... this was just a short stop ...

... and a short walk ... so ...

... this pollen eating beetle on some flower unknown to me, is all I put on photograph.

Some time later, on my way home ...

... I went for another short walk, through some woods this time ...

... I took these few shots there ...
