Conspiracy theories about dreams

avatar
(Edited)

There’s a good chance that most of the things I’ll say in this post will confuse the living shit out of you, either from a poor explanation from my part, or a simple inability to arrange and deliver my thoughts properly to you. Either way, you need to have a very open mind, and be open to possible confusion as you read this post:)

Most people consider dreams as just something their mind does when they get to sleep and don’t consider them as anything beyond this. But beyond this, there some pretty bizarre theories about dreams, and this post will talk about two of them.

Remember though, I’m just writing this based on somethings I’ve repeatedly come accross on the internet, and I’m sharing to see what you think. This doesn’t mean I agree with this stuff. Cool? Let’s get into it then.

Dreams are the lives of the alternate versions of you

Before I tell you what this theory is about, you’ll first need to understand a concept you probably haven’t come across before.

Some people believe that our universe is not the only one out there. That there are multiple universes, each with different versions of what we have in this universe. So different earth, different planets, different suns and moons, and even galaxies. This multi(ple) uni(verse)s constitute the Multiverse.

Image from pexels

With the existence of these different earths, that means, there are different versions of the people here on each earth. Here’s an example. If for instance, let’s call this earth (our earth) earth1. If there’s certain John here, there would the same John on another earth say Earth2 and another one, Earth 3. But these Johns would have different lives. John from Earth1 could be an engineer, married with 2 kids and a billionaire, whiles John on Earth2 could be a teacher, single and earning average income, and John on Earth 3 Iron Man, literally. It’s the same person, but with different stories. All these other earths are called parallel earths or alternate earths, and your other versions are parallel or alternate versions of you.

I feel like I’ve confused both you and I. Have I? good. Let’s continue.

People that watch time travel movies are going to understand my explanations a lot better.

Now the theory

Some people believe that when you dream, what you see in your dreams are the lives of the parallel versions of you. So you’re basically on a front row seat to the theatre view of someone else’s life. What I don’t get though is how your subconscious picks which reality to show you, and whether or not your own life is a movie in someone else’s dream.

The Phantom Theory

The next one is something most people I’ve asked kinda have the same answer to, but it’s deeper. Have you seen a clock in your dream before? Okay now that it’s been established that you haven’t, why do you think that is?

The phantom zone(fictional) is like a prison where time doesn't exist. I call this theory the phantom theory because of the fact that your subconscious kinda jams your sense of time in your dream and that it doesn't want you to know the time for some reason.

It’s like for some reason, your subconscious doesn’t want you to know what time it is in your dreams. I’m going to invite you to join me in on an experiment. Unfortunately, this experiment is not for everyone. It’s only for people that have lucid dreams. Lucid dreams are dreams where the dreamer(you) becomes aware that they’re dreaming. Unlike most people who have no control over how their dreams play out, some lucid dreamers can more or less control the narrative of their dreams.

Now the experiment

The next time you have a lucid dream, I want you to ask the characters in your dream what time it is and let me know. Some people that have done this have warned though that once they become conscious and aware in their dreams, their subconscious becomes aware that they’re aware and becomes hostile towards them . If you’re someone that has sleep paralysis, this could be really bad for you because you won’t be able to wake up even if this happens. This was why I said it wasn’t for all lucid dreamers also.

If you would like to participate in this little experiment with me, please make a post about it when you do. I’d love to see what it turns out like for you. You can use #lucidexperiment and tag me to help me find it easier. This is not a challenge, just a cool topic to share your experience on, so there’s no prize or anything. No one will probably join the experiment anyways. If you’d had an experience like this or have anything to say or add to this, you’re most welcome in the comments or make a post as well. Have a trippy day! Lol.

Hey @nhaji01, did you do the experiment?

I feel that we can create multiple conjecture of what the human reality is, howbeit we can only do it within our imagination. When death happens we lose all consciousness and we can never seem to prove the theory of the multiverse, reincarnation and so many others. Nevertheless I believe we're divine entities and there are things beyond our comprehension. As for dreams, we never really can tell, we can just speculate.

Yes for most of these spiritual stuff, we don’t have proof and speculation is all we can do. The universe and the entities in it are too complex for our understanding, so we just propose theories to help us understand it to our best capabilities.

There are even very heated debates on the existence of heaven and hell, and whether an afterlife even exists. By people who are still living.

Hmm this is interesting. Am one of the people who think dreams are just your imagination. There are times in dreams where you are killed but you seem to refuse to die, why will I be shot and then I wont die? Does this mean bullets don't work in the other world?

Ive had the chance to control how I want my dreams to be sometimes because I am aware that I am dreaming. There are times where I willingly wake up from a dream but there are times it doesn't happen.

I don't know what asking the time will be like in a dream, as you have scared the shit out of me by telling me I might not wake up. I might try it out and if I wake up you will know🤣

Lol that’s a pretty good question. Maybe it’s someone else they’re shooting in the dream and not you? Idk😂

Don’t be scared. Try it and let me know how it goes. In case things go south, sorry in advance.😂😂

Heyooo, hamza.
Okay.. when I saw your title I knew this would be a complicated thing, and damn was I right.

I wanted to say “heyoo hamza, you’ve watched too many doctor strange movies and it is messing with your head” but I thought to myself “what if he’s right”. Alternate universe huh? I don’t know what to say. Hehe.

About the experiment… I’ll pass. It is quite risky and I’m not taking chances😂.

Lol I definitely have seen too many movies. You have no idea. And I’ve heard people tell me this many times too lol.

Come on man, try the experiment. I mean, it’s just a dream right?

I’ll keep asking you about it until you do:)

I am one of those crazy people who believe this :-P The idea is that all possibilities exist, infinite realities. I believe our dreams (and even our imagination) is tapping into other realities :-)

Will you try the dream experiment with me too? I’m actually to chickened to try it myself and it seems everyone was too by the way I described it.

I would love to try this but I'm not very good at lucid dreaming these days. I'm keeping a dream diary to try and not forgot my dreams right now.

Speaking of Dreams and Movies, have you seen Waking Life?

Recently @drrune tried to help me decode my dreams. Maybe he has something to say about this

I’ve never head of a dream diary before, but I get the idea just from the name. Sounds really cool.

Nah I haven’t. I’ll check it out after this comment. I have a feeling I’ll like it already.

@drunie is good at interpreting dreams huh? That’s a cool talent to have. Almost a superhero. Let’s see what he has to say about this then.

Thanks, @selfhelp4trolls, for tagging me here. Hello, @depressedfuckup, nice to meet you!

This is a topic that I'm well versed in. Dreams have been a crucial part of my life since childhood and I've always been able to navigate them with more or less awareness, especially for the past six years or so.

These theories are both fundamentally accurate, though I'm sure you know or at least suspect there's a lot more to dreams than this. In general, dreams are the continuation of our waking lives but without the constraints of what we call material reality, meaning that we don't necessarily have bodies or single points of view in them. According to ancient mystical traditions, in fact, even our waking lives are also dreams, illusory and ever-changing.

In dreams I've experienced: the emotions and ideas of other people (even strangers); visions of the future; the happenings of my past and ancestral lives; connections to alternate versions of me or parallel timelines, and many other things. I remember these experiences in great detail (conversations, smells, taste, touch, color, etc.) and I've extracted extremely valuable and sensitive information from them which have allowed me to go deeper into the tangible reality around me when I'm awake.

Thanks for posting this, it's quite interesting and relevant right now.

Thanks for responding, man. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you learn to be able to navigate your dreams. I’d really love to be able to do that myself.

These theories are both fundamentally accurate, though I'm sure you know or at least suspect there's a lot more to dreams than this.

Yeah totally. I think I wrote something about whether our lives and this reality we know are actually even real. Whether we’re dreaming, awake or on the brink of death. Because I’ve read a few times people who have had near-death experiences say that in a split second, they felt like they relived their entire lives. I think there are even scientific backs to this. That your entire life flashes before your eyes just before you die, and it feels so real and like you’re actually in those moment. That that moment that really just takes a few minutes feels like a lifetime to the dying person, and they can’t even tell that they’re experiencing is a replay of the memories when they were alive.

I think I’ve also experienced this being able to feel other people’s emotions thing in my dream sometimes, but I never really thought about it until I read this.

The dream world really is an interesting place and there are certainly many theories about it. Being able to navigate it must be a cool skill or I’d like to call it a superpower to have.

I didn't require any specific practice to be able to navigate and remember dreams, I just could since I was a kid. Then my mother died and it caused an avalanche of situations and choices in my life which led me to begin my current spiritual practice. I've attended several ceremonies with ancestral plants (involving Ayahuasca, Yopo, Cannabis, Tobacco and others,) which report fully conscious dream-like states and visions as well death-like trances. I've also engaged deeply in meditation, rituals and mystical studies which have further improved my capacities.

One of the most important works that you can do in order to increase your oneiric ability is to do specific meditations to open and strengthen your Chakra system, particularly your Third Eye. Also, improving your trust in the information you get from dreams and from your waking environment will naturally help you in this regard as well. It's not easy but the results are tremendously beneficial.
