A Writing of Faith: To my future self

Hey Sweetness,

I'm right here reminiscing on where you used to be five years ago and I'm totally amazed at your resilience. That year you were just a first year student in the university and a clueless newbie on Hive and didn't know left from right. You panicked when pressure came knocking and you would sweat and worry about every single thing. You didn't believe much in yourself but you always had these daring dreams which seemed physically massive compared to this little body of yours.

But mum used to say that you're just a powerhouse in a small body and that wasn't the standard with which your capabilities and greatness should be measured. She believed so much in you and groomed you till you grew out of your shell of insecurity and self doubt and now look at where you are.

I want to say that I'm so proud of how strong you've been. How you've grown past every setback, jumped every hurdle and stood firm in all the storms. You've made impacts too major to be achieved in the space of five years and everyone that matters is undoubtedly proud of me.

Patience is indeed a virtue and time truly changes everything. You were so heartbroken in the past that you didn't believe in love anymore but look who love found! I see the way your love life has blossomed and how happy you are. Who are you gonna thank for the gift of a man made perfect just for you? The universe, fate or the creator. I'd say all of them put together.

Thinking of your career, who would have thought you'd attain financial freedom before you even graduate? Look at you managing your educational affairs and still bagging cool cash with your multiple streams of income. Everyone wonders how you're so good at your school projects and you wish you could scream it to them that Hive pushed you out of your comfort zone and the writer you never knew existed in you exploded.

I'm most proud of how you've lived the name mother gave you - Blessing. It's amazing how you bless everyone that comes your way and it's so obvious the positive impacts you've made on others.

I know that as you're ageing and advancing, you're worried about what will be, what is yet to come and you wish you could help everyone all at once. You're afraid of letting the people who are looking up to you and you're afraid you would mess up. There's just this fear of the unknown that you can't shake off and currently you're still afraid that you're not enough.

You're just about to graduate and you're worried about your final project defence. "Would it go well? Will I be able to defend my work? What if I can't answer the questions I'll be asked? What if I zone out?" Day in day out you worry. Just breathe.

I want you to look back at where you used to be five years ago, look at all you've accomplished and think of how you got here. You didn't make it this far to fail in the end.

Just as you sing with faith every time, flying is what you will keep doing. The rules are just the same - work hard, focus, be eager to learn, pray, trust God and stay humble. Stand for what you know is right even if you're standing alone for one, with God is majority.

In every process, in every chaos, in every storm, in every pressure, breath. Let the air in slowly and let it out slowly. Never panic because fear and worry takes one deeper into frustration. Breath for this is a reminder that you're alive. Breathe for wherever there's life there's hope.

Things will not always go as planned but trust the process. The vision may tarry to come to reality but trust the process. In every where you find yourself, leave your signature. Never be lost in the crowd, be yourself at all times. Remember whose identity you carry and where you're from.
