My first encounter staying away from my family.

Hello everyone!

It is amazing to participate in this interesting concept, sharing experience of what I learned from not being under the control of my parents. This was the time where I had the opportunity to engage in the activities I was restricted from, and was made to understand that the restrictions was for a proper furnishing of my life.

The first time I left home was during my highschool days, I once shared an experience of attending a public highschool that was far from home, which needed my parents getting an accommodation for me in the community where the school was located.

For the first time in my life leaving home, my parents created time to guide me on how I should live a life not far from being in good behavior. In the session, they spoke nice words to me which still serve as a guide, some words keep on being judgmental till date anytime I am going astray. I so much appreciate my parents for those wonderful moments which has served and built me to the person I am today.

Leaving to school was not an interesting situation I experienced, as I really missed my parents. After all preparations were made, gathering of food stuffs, buying of clothes and other necessary items, my Dad took me to the location and gave me pocket money and transportation money back home when we are on break. They was food stuff to serve me till holiday, but the food stuffs were no longer sufficient within few weeks.

Initially I did not have friends but fed as if I was at home🤦, without being conscious that if it finishes no body to get another one for me, after some time I had friends who always came home to eat, that is where my food stuff finally finished, then I started spending my pocket money and when it finished the next thing was to spend my fare home.

When I managed to survive that period till when it was holiday, I never told my parents the situation on ground because I was scared about how my parents will feel.

It was time for me to go home now, no fare, I had to enter a taxi to the house were I got the fare to pay.
After experiencing this for the first time no one told me again to readjust, I told myself it was necessary.

What I learnt.

  • I saw how most of my mates were having issues and then I knew the importance of parental guidance, how it shaped me and I was not a victim of circumstance.
  • I learnt about management, because after the experience I became conscious and didn't find things hard again.
  • I was able to know how to relate with people outside, how to render a helping hand to my friends in need without it being detrimental to me.

Thank you for reading!!

Indeed parents guidance is always the best. Sometimes we feel bad about it but later on we will realize that what they did to us a way to shape or mold us into a better and independent person in the future. I am glad you have learned that lessons and it will help you to be strong.

Yeah I did 😊
It was an experience I was really happy about, how I realized how helpful it was without making mistakes that would have affected me in a way where making repairs will not be possible.

Thanks for the visit @jenthoughts,
I really appreciate 🙏🏻

Lesson well learnt...
I appreciate parents who take out there time to give there children the needed guidance, and ask the support they need, I mean it helps them make the right choice even when faced with many .

It's also a good one that you are always there to render helping hand.

Well said @isaacngore

Hehe... you experience reminded me of mine as well. When I just got admitted into the higher institution and I was given my first allowance by my parents. It was supposed to be for a month, but within a week it was all gone. I did not even know how to call and tell them. No one told me to buckle up after that.😂
Thank you for sharing this with us.
