Growing up with just my dad and siblings didn't give us much freedom as other kids but one thing I can remember very clearly was my dad giving us the freedom to do whatever we liked inside the house and I'm still surprised how we got to understand indoor games from our class mates and played them inside the house.

My Indoor Favourites

Until dad started to allow my siblings and I go out to play, my favourite games were "Police catch thief" and "Biro game". I don't know if these games are known but they were very popular game during my childhood.

Police catch thief is a paper game where we random pick wrapped names and who becomes the thief gets to catch the thief among the others... I remember looking at every participants of the game as suspects so I could catch the thief anytime I picked the police paper πŸ˜‚ it was never easy but it was so much fun.

Biro game was introduced to us at home by my brother then, we make our biro fight and the first pen to hit the other pen to fall off the table or the play board, wins. I was never a pro at that game or maybe my brother was just so good with it, he would always win.

We played so many other indoor games but these are the ones that still sticks to my mind whenever I'm asked what my favourite was back then.

My Outdoor favourites

We later got the opportunity to go outside although on the watch on some elders in our neighbourhood, I remember how happy we were to paly with our neighbour's children. My favourite games at that period were "Ludo game" and "Suwe (Hopscotch)". I wasn't a pro in them like I am now but there were times I made lots of wins with my little knowledge of the games... It was so much fun.

My star game πŸ₯°

The Ludo game is a two to four people game and I always preferred the four people game until I got older... Don't ask me why. Ludo game is more fun to me when every participants counts faster and make the right moves for the fun of it during the game, I had so much fun back then with it. I still play it now but it was more fun back then because I played it as a child mostly with older people πŸ˜…

Suwe game also called "Hopscotch" is my most fun outdoor childhood game. The game is all about participants hoping on one or both legs around drawn lines trying to get to an end without touching the lines or falling off. I was a pro on this game πŸ₯° even though I sustain a few injuries before I became good in it.

There are so many other fun childhood games I played that still sticks to my brain up till now because of how fun they were back then. I did play the skipping rope game, hide and seek, running under the rain, ten ten, fire on the mountain and so many others.

Writing this post make me miss those days so much, wish I could play those games without drawing attention from people that I'm being childish πŸ˜’ they were fun games really.

Well, I don't think I was able to point out one favourite game in this post, and that's because I had too many favourites. Maybe you could just say my favourite was the one I was a pro at... Be the judge.

Thanks for reading!!!

This post is so nostalgic, making me remember so much from my childhood especially that game, police catch thief… I was always in charge of the gameπŸ˜‚ I was the one recording scores and I will always picking police but I will never catch the thief. Just like you, my parents didn’t let us out of the house so I always played with my siblings, I have 5 of them so it was never boring.

I have never heard of "police catch thief" πŸ˜‚ but I guess it would be an interesting game. I have always played the biro game, most times by myself and it was fun having to see which pen would win and lose. Now, I knew the English name for Suwe game. Lol

I remember doing biro fights back then, on my desk in our classroom. I took my dad's fountain pen to school one time, and because of the weight, I was just winning every other personπŸ˜‚
We even used to hold a makeshift tournament. Although there were no prices involved, just the knowledge that you were the alpha when it came to biro fights.
And believe me, it was an awesome feeling back then.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
