I've Had Enough!

There are times we actually had to make a decision to quit a job, a relationship or sometimes a bad habit. We are left with no choice than to quit cause it might be the best thing to do.

If you want to attain success in life, you need to make up your mind on what to do. Sometimes there are some friends or habits that doesn't add value to ones life that you need to stay away from with immediate effect if you want to grow in life.

There are different reasons why people quit, some quit cause of their mental health, some for their integrity, some for their happiness while some just have to do it for peace to reign. It's not easy to quit, it takes a lot to finally put an end to a thing.

My Experience
In year 2019 after my NYSC (one year mandatory service for all graduate in Nigeria), I was employed as a secretary in one private school of advanced studies center. My work was to keep records of students, collect their tutorial fees and as well pay tutors for the service rendered. My first six month of work at the center was nice, the owner paid my salary when due even before the end of the month, I never knew he was doing welcoming service for me.

After the said months things changed, he now pays between 5th and 10th of the following month or sometimes he will travel when the salary was due for payment, I will be disturbing him with calls and messages before he pays.

The funniest part is that, he doesn't allow cash to stay with me again and he now pays the tutors by himself. When the center admit a new student and I collect a cash school fees, he will call immediately that I should quickly go and deposit it in the bank.

If i'm feeling reluctant to go to the bank and I gave him excuse that the center needs some money to buy teaching aids he would say he needs the money urgently or that the cleaner wasn't around that no one to leave the office for, he will tell me to close the office. He just doesn't want his money in my hand at all. By early 2020, he had owned me two months salary, so I made up my mind to collect my money by all means and quit the job because I've had enough of his non chalant attitude but Covid-19 came and there was locked down.

Before going for lock down, I took home the center's debtors book and I messaged all debtors to pay their remaining balance to my account. As God would have it, few responded and I received times two of what he owned me. I was so happy that my plan worked out so I didn't bother to call him throughout the locked down and he neither call nor message me too.

After the locked down, when I called that I intend to see him, the foolish man thought that I want to resume back his work. I greeted him and asked for my money, he said I'm too proud, that I didn't even call to check on him throughout the lock down and I'm here asking for money, well he will try and give me part of the money by ending of that month. I replied that he didn't check on me too, I told him not to bother that I'm quitting his work cause I've had enough.

I released all his possessions in my care and narrated how I collected some of his debts, I gave him the debtors book that I took home. After that, I told him he shouldn't bother about my money cause I've paid myself and I transferred his remaining change in my account to him. I bid him farewell and I walked out majestically. He was dumbfounded and couldn't say anything till I left his presence.

I was so proud of myself that I didn't work in vain and I was delighted that I quit the job.

This is very interesting and funny 😄 some employer are very heartless. Even when the Bible gave an instruction "owe no man his wages" they still hold on to someone's hard-to-earn money
Am glad all things worked out for good for you and you were able to collect your money and paid yourself before you quit. That serves him right.
I once had an experience with an employer many years ago, he doesn't pay salaries at the end of the month, he pays at the end of another month, thereby holding Unto your previous month's salary so that when you decide to quit he would hold unto your salary. BAD BOSS But I was able to conquer him, he became my friend and I told him I was going for my NYSC(LIES) I was quitting for good. That was how he gave me my salary and taged it a gift to support my movement as his friend and good staff. BAD BOSS
