Murife Don't Run

Today's contest prompt at the hive learners community has to do with risk or safety and from the description of the topic, one can tell that anything anyone will be writing on the topic will have to be something important to them and probably life-changing. But ladies and gentlemen, I've tried my possible best trying to think of a moment where I've done something very risky or chosen not to do something risky and I've come up with nothing.

I know there's a memory buried somewhere deep down in my brain but for some reasons, it has refused to be brought back. So I've decided to just tell you guys a story about one of the risky things I've done that I can still remember and although it's not really an important story, it's my story and I'm telling it, lol.

I've mentioned here in the past that growing up, I did a lot of menial jobs, not because we were broke and couldn't feed, but mainly because I wanted to avoid some of the other cool things some other kids had. Things like video games and the likes.

Now because we were kids (not really kids though, we were between the age of 14-16) a lot of people always called us for jobs because our price was always three times cheaper than the usual prices. Back then, we weren't really thinking about all of that, we were just happy to get paid.

So one day, this man had asked us (there were three of us) to come to his home so that he could tell us the job he wanted us to do for him. Now the area where the man lived was famous for one thing, a dog. There was this particular dog which was very huge and never in chains. They let it roam freely probably because it was familiar with everyone living in that small area.

Now when the man asked us to come to his place, he had not thought of the dog because to him, the dog wasn't a threat and seeing how it wasn't a threat, it barely even crossed his mind that it would be a threat to us. So I and the boys started to brainstorm if we should call the man and tell him we won't be able to come to his place neither would we do the job because accepting the job meant we would be going to his place frequently, which means frequently walking pass the house of the huge dog.

At the end of the day, we decided the job was too good of an opportunity to miss, so we went to his place. On our way there, we had missed the dog. We couldn't find it at its usual spot and had thought that maybe the owner had taken it for a walk or something. But on our way back, we spotted it and just as if it heard that we were in its territory without coming to pay our respect to him, it came after us.

I remember that day like it's the back of my palm because of how we ran, the three of us ran different ways. One of my friend entered someone else's compound, the other one got on top of someone's car while screaming out his lungs for help because he was the one the dog was focused on, while me on the other had found a way to leave the street without even looking back to see if my other two comrades were fine.

I have no idea how the dude on top of the car escaped but he came home without any scar on him and then we decided we were no longer interested in working for the man anymore. That is one risk I never plan on taking ever again in my life.

No nau! No be so!
What happened to bring a brothers keeper and standing with one another in good/bad? 😂

I probably would never have visited the area if I knew there's a dog around. Even if it's a day old puppy.

That is one risk I never plan on taking ever again in my life.

I stand with you on this one. Never again!!!

We were young boys then, but even now that we're grown, we will still go different directions 😂😂
