Aww These bring back fond memories of my time in AZ. Keep an eye out for yucca blooms, you can actually eat the flowers when they are budding. They have a sort of apple taste. The stalks can be cooked as well when they are tender.
Not many people know what an agave looks like. I lived in the Gilbert/Phoenix area for a couple of years and as I am from the Northeast, I will say that it was a culture shock, but, I still look back on the amazing landscapes the west has to offer.
