| This is actually our only central bicycle street in the city centre. But you can see from the photos that there are more cars than cyclists. If you dare to ride your bike on it, you get honked at. In the Middle Ages, this street was one of the most splendid villa streets. The richest of the rich lived there. | Das ist tatsächlich unsere einzige Zentrale Fahrradstrasse im Zentrum. Wobei, auf den Fotos kann man erkennen, es fahren mehr Autos dort als Radfahrer. Wenn man sich da mit dem Fahrrad drauf wagt, wird man angehupt. Diese Strasse war im Mittelalter eine der Pracht Villen Strassen. Die Reichsten der Reichen haben dort gewohnt. |

| A side street of this is Hallstrasse. This connects Maximilianstrasse with this avenue. Max Strasse is then another Wednesdey Walk Post. A pity they have the strip designated for bikes but it’s no safe to ride there

Elias Holl was the town builder in the 16th century. His buildings still characterise the core of Augsburg. At least the parts that were not bombed.
well I am glad they were not all bombed and his style is style able to be seen there ;)

It is absolutely beautiful. It is sad that though it is the only central bicycle street, you can not really enjoy a bike ride. The scenery is perfect for cyclists.
Yes, germany is still lagging behind. In other countries, city centres are becoming car-free, and we are building parking garages.
Our city keeps announcing that it will become known as a cycling city. But as a cyclist, you don't notice much yet.
Am sure it will be done one day. Cycling helps you appreciate the beauty of the environment

Yes indeed. Your City is over 2000 years old. This buildings are mostly from the 16 century. If you own such a building, you have to keep the shape and interieur achtitektion or at least have to renovate it without destroy the old strukture.
4 years ago, we had a house nearly by. And in the city archieve, it was first mentioned 1488 or so. But very expensive to keep it.

Augsburg ist schon eine sehr schöne Stadt. Ich war nur einmal dort, glaub auf einem Country Festival, kann das sein?
Wahrscheinlich die Americana auf dem Messegelände hier. Ja das kann sein.
Augsburg hat seine schönen Ecken. Und ehrlich gesagt, ich poste ja auch nur die schönen Sachen. Aber auf jeden Fall hat Augsburg eine Geschichte. Über 2000 Jahre, Im Mittelalter zu Fuggers Zeiten die Reichste Stadt Europas, und seit zwei Jahren Weltkulturerbestadt mit Thema Wasser.
Aber AUX hat auch seine Schattenseiten. Und die nicht zu knapp.
Ja genau Americana hat das geheißen und es war auf einer großen Betonfläche, was für Messegelänge spricht ;-) Ist jetzt schon über 20 Jahre her, so genau kann ich mich auch nicht mehr erinnern :-)
Jede Stadt hat auch ihre Schattenseiten. Vielleicht einmal auch ein Contest Thema dazu, mal sehen
Die Messe ist so eine Schattenseite von uns zum Beispiel. !LOL . Überall nur Beton und hässliche, alte, heruntergekommene, riesige Hallen. Das hätte man auch schöner machen können.
