Some amazing finds here.

We took a short #wednesday walk at the river.
299.jpg

Okay, I know that can all get photos of a young trout in a river :)
But I doubt if you can get a photo like the next photo in here.

We are lucky to have abundant nature in the area and everywhere that we walk we can always find something interesting. Not always big and fabulous, but sometimes like in here small and lovely.
So, come and join us on this walk.

Not often that I can get a crab and a trout in the same picture.

Now here is something even more strange.

I stumbled onto this Mason wasp hole in the ground while I was walking around searching for dragonflies.
The first time for me to see a wasp crawling out of a hole and instead of flying, it laid down next to the hole ???

071.jpg

Look in the picture above, the wasp crawled out of the hole and in the picture below he laid down next to the hole?
All of the other wasps continued to fly in and out of the hole right next to the one that was laying down.
The wasp laid like that for about 10 minutes, and I thought that he crawled out to die.
078.jpg

Then a strange thing happened. As here you can see the wasp starting to get up again.
084.jpg

And there he was crawling back into the hole, leaving a wet imprint in the mud where he laid.
086.jpg

Like I said above, I was out dragonfly hunting and I got this guy below. So my walk was perfect.
262.jpg

So there you have it, and I have tried to show you not only beauty but also something strange. There is no way that I can figure out what that wasp was doing. For instance, it might have been his job to soak up water in the hole into his body and then to expel the water outside of the hole. Only a suspicion, but we will need to research on this.
If any of you know why the wasp did that, please let me know in the comments below.

And That's All Friends.

Hello..
@papilloncharity
Awesome Wednesday walk👣👣 !
Fantastic photo📷 capture of the beautiful..lovely dragonfly..!
🤔 Just a guess..could the wasp have released pheromones..?
🤔😁 Or maybe it peed (urinated).

Very interesting how he left a wet spot. I found out the hard way that wasps build in the ground as I was clearing a field. We had a tractor working around and must of agitated the wasps as I walked over the hole...several found their way up my pant leg. Let me tell you I was ripping those pants off in a hurry as they were brutalizing my thighs! Funny now, at the time though, not so much lol!

Oh man, that must have been a very sore experience as wasps just keep on hammering one.
Did you need medical attention?

We have spiders here that build little web huts and in the twilight I stepped into one. I still have the 7 marks of their bites on my leg. A fiery experience.

The only thing scarred on me was my psyche as I always went "commando" as we say here... IOW sans underwear LOL

That is intriguing about the wasp I know nothing about them so can’t add anything
A trout and a crab in the same photo now that’s unique

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Oh yes, that sight was also new to me and I am still trying to find out what the was was doing there.
I had a few seconds to get the crab as he crossed over to crawl in under another stone.

No happy balance soon, as this week is going to be murder with temperatures on the coming weekend between 37 and 41C.
I put an ice bucket in front of the fan and the ice lasted for 20 minutes, now it's just warm water in the bucket 🤣!LOLZ

The wasp thing is quite strange, I haven't seen anything similar before. Not only once we found a frozen bee in winter, but when we warmed it up in our hands the bee woke up and lived on.

That's a beautiful dragonfly - great shot, Zac 🤩

Yes thank you and I also found it to be very unusual Hannes.
They were zooming all around me, but there was no way that I wouldn't stay to watch that wasp come alive again. At first I thought that the other wasps would pull him back into the hole again, but they didn't and that's how I knew that he was alive.

Amazing that a frozen bee can survive.

Glad that you liked the dragonfly shot 😊

Cheers and thanks.

The wasp story still fascinates me.

Yep, the bees were either lying in the snow or on ice. Such happened on warmer days towards the Spring when the bees thought it's Spring already.

Ah yes, that makes sense to me about the bees but one wouldn't think that they can get confused between the seasons.
Nature is difficult to read at times, which only makes it even more interesting.

Cheers and thanks.

Sometimes we have very warm days and some insects seem to think Spring is here - wrong thought.

Shame and I think that there is not one living thing on this planet that has not had a wrong thought.
Yet we are so eager to chastise others when they opine a wrong thought 😉

Cheers and thanks.
