Spring season gradually appearing!

422.JPG

So great to see the early Spring colors emerging after a very cold winter with snow!

We took a short walk at a national park near the mountains to see what we could find.
I decided to place this post in the #wednesdaywalk channel of my good friend @tattoodjay.

And of course we were not disappointed.
It's early days yet as the 1st of September was our official Spring day amidst a lot of rainy days, but I have a feeling that this year a special bloom will explode on all of the fields!
Here's some early samples on show!

267.JPG

260.JPG

Once again I have to admit that I am not a flower expert, but yes like most of us, I love their colors. I am more of an animal, birding and insect man. But nevertheless we all love nature don't we?

293.JPG

300.JPG

This pink color above is what happens when you are in a hurry and you press the wrong button on your camera 😁
But I liked it and I hope that you do too.

310.JPG

Thankfully I got the same Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) butterfly on another flower!

285.JPG

Now this guy above is not a bee, although he dresses himself as a bee. He is actually a type of Horse fly.
He is of the family "Tabanidae" and his scientific name is "Rhigioglossa". They are all over the Western Cape here during the Spring season.

Information source: "Field guide to insects of South Africa"
Author: Picker, Griffiths and Weaving!

I am looking forward to sending you many more colors during our Spring season and of special interest to me are colors of the large Canola blooms.
Until next time then I salute all of you!

And That's All Friends!

I leave you you all with this below!

Health is the new wealth. Happiness is the new rich. Inner peace is the new success. Kindness is the new cool.” —Syed Balkhi

Ha ha 1st September you got some sunshine while we eventually got some rain. It was soft and steady all day long keeping the coast at a chilly degree all day long, which I love!

Flowers are stunning, yes much like you I battle to identify (drive myself crazy), the insects always a winner and the pink photograph turned out amazingly different.

Horseflies I avoid them they bite! On the other hand I am sure there are many varieties within this family too....

Interesting and fun day outing, thanks for taking us along Stephen.

We are seriously wet here Lady Joan and I got some shots as usual of the advancing clouds, driven at high speed by the clouds. So I think much more rain will be headed to you guys.

Changed to stage 4 loadshedding here today. Already had two and another one at 8pm.

They say that there's an app that one can send a photo to for identification, but me and apps don't like each other much lol. I have a great struggle to type on a phone hahaha
Yeah, that pinkie looked so good that I decided to keep it and yes, I did thank the camera hahaha.

I don't know if these ones bite, but I remember the bite of the Tsetse flies lol.

Glad that you came along on the walk my friend.

Blessings and thank you for the kind tip and the token.

Ha ha, we had such high winds we watched a Hadadah go down the middle of the road at full tilt, my son retorted he would not like to have that fly straight at you in a car, don't think the bird had much control either....

Yes we having double dose of daily outages of 2 hours each. So glad I'm not in Johannesburg where they are always 4 hours long, hardly leaving any day to get anything done.

Have a great day.

Hahaha, I thought it was only us that had birds practicing jet flying in the gale force winds Lady Joan.
But I feel sorry for the tiny birds as they are all flying roundabouts to get to their destinations. No control for none both big sand small.

Debilitating these power shut downs and I now have to rush here with the replies as we are out at 8pm.
So glad that we left Johannesburg 2 years ago.

Blessings to all of you!

Wow, a few days ago you showed us snowy mountains and today blooming flowers and busy insects, how cool is that, spring didn't want to lose a day it seems 😀

Beautiful photos which show the beauty of nature in spring, Zac 😀

This Horse fly looks more like a Hoverfly to me though (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoverfly). I have photographed a similar one lately (not the one in my tonight's post).

Traces of the snow is still on the mountains Hannes, but the clouds keep them covered.
I took the photos during a break in the clouds and yes, it seems that Spring is in a hurry here.

Did you look on wikipedia at the "Rhigioglassa" my friend?
At first we also thought it was a Hoverfly, but this one has solid bands across his abdomen!

I will visit your post before the shut down!

Cheers and thanks!

I have seen only your photo and it looks like a Hoverfly. They have also solid bands. But I don't want to argue, because you have seen the complete insect and can compare better 😁

I'll try to edit the other Hoverfly I have photographed as soon as I can and make a post.

Looking forward to the next post.

I think so too, Zac, but I know only a few insects here - how could I know yours 😊

I have a surprisingly quiet day and take advantage of that by editing some photos and preparing a post for tonight, but it will not be macro post. I prefer to edit the macros at home on the big screen.

Yeah, Google they say knows everything lol.
The locals on the farm had one guy that always thinks he is the cleverest guy under the sun and I used to laugh because they gave him the nickname of "Google" hahaha.

Not to worry, as you are welcome to look anytime. Within 7 days of course lol.

Knows everything? You will find everything for sure, but you have to take care because there's also a lot fake information around, and Wikipedia isn't right always either.

So this guy might have known a lot, but I think more he was talking a lot and had an answer to anything 😉 I know such guys too.

... within 7 days of course 😁

Cross referencing is a good way to deal with Wiki Hannes.

Yeah, I think we all know them, but I liked the name that they have given them hahaha.
Imagine that all of your colleagues call you Google lol.

I see that we have had a big drop in the Hive price this morning, so don't expect much action today.
But one never knows lol.

Cheers and thanks!

Right, I have several other websites to search and compare.

I wouldn't mind if I had the Google money too 😁

When the Hive price falls I can buy Hive with the rest of the Bitcoin I have got for my Steem.

Ah okay, you know what I meant with the cross referencing,

None of us would mind having the Google money my friend.

Ha, you are so lucky to have Bitcoin and the advice is always to buy in a price dip.
When Hive blooms you can buy Google lol.

Cheers and thanks!

😉

I have transferred my Steem to Ionomy.com and exchanged them for Bitcoin for which I bought some Hive. But I was waiting too long, the Hive price rose and so I still have 0.something Bitcoin. I placed a cheap buy order on Ionomy and if the price goes down someone might sell me his Hive for my price. Otherwise I wait ... 😉

Sounds good to me.
I transferred my Steem straight to Bittrex and transferred from there to an exchange here, which then transferred the cash into Papillon's account.
My first download and transfer ever and it was not much lol.

I wanted to add one Hive powerdown to the steem amount, but then cancelled it.
So now I have zero steem and zero bittrex lol.

You seem to be doing well and let's hope that someone will take up your offer on ionomy.

Cheers and thanks!

Yeah, orca's have big voting power but at the rate that I am going, the year will be over and I will still struggle to get to the 30000 mark.
Bitcoin is also a strange animal that can shoot up to the sky and then drop down to the ocean 🤣

But my hope is that everyone on Hive will get there one day, wherever that is lol.

The trick as I have explained to JJ is to ban all thoughts from your mind and to concentrate on the immediate surroundings. I hardly ever sit as I rather stand and while waiting I get things like this.

Taken today while I was waiting for one of the bucks in my post to stand up, as they were both laying down.

Cheers and thanks!

Dragonflies seem to be quite seldom here, or they hide from me, or I just don't see them ... so, if I see a dragonfly I wait on that place or I walk around, but if I can't see it again soon I will walk on. I know that's wrong and I want to change that, but I always think I would miss a better shot somewhere else while I wait for something that might not come back ;) lol

Hahaha, what can I say to this?

I made so many mistakes at the beginning until I learned that I will get all of the shots that I want, if I wait for them to come to me. I see so many guys running around trying to get an African Fish Eagle when they hear his call, not realizing that he can be many miles away.

One came to sit right in front of me and I posted him hahaha.

It, or something better will always come if you wait for it Hannes.
Depending on waiting at the right spot lol.

Cheers and thanks!

0

Yes, you have to be on the right spot and you have to be patient. I am often on the right spot, but I am seldom patient enough to wait 😁
Patience is really something I have to work on.

I will tell you a secret Hannes,

Sometimes I can also lose my patience, especially on the rare times that I get angry, maybe once or twice a year.
Thing is that I lose it completely and I can react in an instant, always feeling sorry afterwards.
So anger and myself are not very good friends and I avoid it at all costs.

Waiting on the other hand was drilled into me via punishments as a child and it has ever since thankfully continued to grow.

Cheers and thanks!

Oh yes, I know this kind of impatience too when I wait for somebody or for something to be done. In such cases I also often use words I normally wouldn't use and I also feel sorry even while I say these things.

I think most of us at times say things that we regret afterwards Hannes,
Over here if you say something wrong, especially about races, you will be attacked mercilessly, so its best to put a guard on the tongue.

The good thing about it is that it awakens a person to also guard the tongue in other situations.
But anger is a reckless and ugly beast lol.

Cheers and thanks!

That's right, and racism is something I hate. Of course sometimes I make fun with a friend of my son because he's sooo dark colored, but it's fun and we have a laugh when he calls me the same, but the other way round 😁

Cheers and !BEER

Yes indeed, racism was taught for so many centuries that it makes it difficult to get rid of it. It is ingrained in the psyche of people Hannes.
When I started Papillon, I was determined that we will serve all races and the people started hating me because they said that we were training terrorists how to speak English and how to use computers.

But I have a Rhino thick skin, so it didn't bother me about what they said and we simply continued. A few years later some of those same people either came themselves, or they sent their kids to be trained by us, as we issued university accredited certificates.

People are funny beings my friend 🤣

It is what it is Hannes,

And it will eventually be eradicated as the older generations disappear.
But that is going to take some time yet and another problem is that some of the newer generations have also been taught that.

There are haters and lovers in life Hannes.
But then there is another breed that cannot stand anyone, not even their own.
Cruel and false people that smack not only their own children around, but also other little fatherless boys.
How do I know this? Well I was one of those fatherless little boys lol.

That's why I stepped away from them and even their language many, many years ago.

My son was small and he called it "Purple Turple" hahaha.

So when his granny made her hair purple he called her "gran purple turple" and he asked his mom if his gran was now a ninja.

I think that I should also go for purple streaks in my long white beard hahaha.

Amazing tricks that this Canon camera can perform and one day I should really sit down to read the operational manual carefully :)

I see that there are many new Spring color journeys advertised in the Western Cape Province on my PC, but we are more the kind that likes to do things on our own.
Once the grape vineyards are in full growth and the fruit farms blossom, there are real explosions of color here.

Glad that you liked the quote.

Here you can see that we are still in the early days of spring, as the vines are all in new buds of growth.
