Time for an afternoon walk, Hivers! I hope your day has been awesome.

I picked up my mail from the postal tower on my way out for a walk. And I am glad I did!

I received a surprise card with a beautiful coin from a fellow-stacker, @summertooth!

I am aware that this was a raffle prize from one of @summertooth's raffle and was forwarded to me by the winner picked by random drawing. Whoever you are, THANK YOU!

1937 Buffalo Nickel

Obverse: James Earle Fraser's classic portrait of an American Indian in profile.

Reverse: Depicts an American bison, known as Black Diamond, standing on a flat mound.


The Buffalo Nickel was created in 1913 by James Earle Fraser. A native of Winona, Minnesota, Fraser grew up on the plains of the Upper Midwest and his works of art were deeply influenced by the way of life of indigenous people.

Walking down the road by a shopping square, I could see a towering Bamboo tree. I think it is about 75 feet tall!

This photo I took of the bamboo tree also captures the smokey skies caused by the fires burning in California. The fires have been ongoing for more than a month now.

This tree was truly an exciting find for me personally because it reminded me of the bamboo trees in Hawaii.

So I had a couple of my sorority sis over during the Labor Day celebration... just this Monday. I forgot to cover the pool, and when I woke up the next morning, it was filled with ash! The photo does not show it somehow, but through the naked eye (and not through my iPhone lenses below, the surface of the water is
covered with ash and looks muddy. I need the pool person to come clean it, and I just had them come over last Sunday, arrrgh!!!

I got 2 Buffalo nickels each from a different YouTube content creator, a 1927 from Silver Slayer and a 1936 from I (vaguely) think Tsquare talks. And I have a few neighbors with Bamboo growths.

What do you think of the Buffalo nickel sis? I personally like them very much nd I am on my second tube of these nickels. But I also have the war nickels. Truthfully, even when it is the war nickels that contain silver, I prefer the Buffalo Nickels. I am so glad that you do not tire of hearing about which coins are my favorite coins even when I know that you already know, LOL! And we are stuck on each other, hehehe.

I have one of these nickles, the same year even and it's the only one I have lol Stay safe from the fires, I know how they are out there had some friends and family majorly affected by the last big fires in Cali.

I know they aren't silver, but I still get them and on my second tube of Buffalo nickels. The other nickel I am trying to complete a tube on are the silver war nickels, which are the only nickels that contain silver.
It is truly smokey here, and it is a constant reminder to pray nit only for the people affected by the pandemic and also the families directly affected by the CA fires.

I have always loved the Buffalo Nickel, and to see this in the traditional paper and cellophane coin holder takes me back to childhood coin collecting days @silversaver😀
Ohh the bamboo trees......I need to confess my friend I have bamboo everywhere!!!!
It is beautiful, but I constantly need to keep it in check! Bamboo spreads by the root system, and it will pop up many feet away from the main plant LOL!!!

I lucked out... someone liked me enough to forward this coin to me, LOL! I really love the Buffalo Nickel. It is second to none in the "feel" of a real coin. The nickels today are so thin, and the diameter is smaller. There is nothing like having this iconic nickel of America.
About the bamboo trees... the tree above are clumpers, and ot woll take over the entire face of that shop, LOL! The Bamboo trees of Hawaii are non-clumpers, and I know that you and Liz will enjoy going through the bamboo forest of Koali.

Thats beautiful @silversaver888, and the bamboo trees are much larger than the trees we have here! Yes the Buffalo Nickel is definitely a keeper!!! I always loved finding a well worn one as a kid, it was a very rare find!!! Those days are gone....

The Buffalo Nickel is awesome! Congratiulations on that. Uhm ... no I don't have one myself. But bamboo, yesss that I do have in my backyard. And it's a joy to my eyes. Still a young plant (2 years now), but I enjoy it very very much!

Good morning, @hetty-rowan, and thank you for dropping by. There is a bamboo forest in Koali, and enjoy walking that trail. But the bamboo trees growing there are unlike this one. I think these are referred to as clumpers, and this tree that I found will grow wider and wider and eventually will invade the entire front space of the shop, LOL.

How I wish I posted individual photos of the bamboo. It took more effort putting in on a collage, and when it was done, the beauty of the bamboo is totally lost! Arrrrgh! I will never be good in photos. .. sigh :-(

I know... the ear nickles are GWs. But, good mints copy the Buffalo design on 1 oz silver rounds.
