Wednesday Walk along the Moika River Embankment to the City Hall
I was walking towards the River Moika along Gorokhovaya Street. On one of the houses there is a plate, which shows how high the water stood during the flood of 1824. It was a catastrophic flood. The girl stopped to take a closer look at this plate and I immediately took this photo. Without a person in the frame, it is difficult to understand how high the sign is.
I found the hopscotch on the Moika Embankment. I think there is one more field up here that is missing. Do I remember correctly that there should be a semicircle at the top?
I took another shot of this story, with the falling shadows of passers-by. It seems to be more dramatic this way.
Repair of the road surface goes a little further, and this section of the quay is free from continuously passing cars. The youth company took the opportunity to ride on skateboards here.
The sidewalks are temporarily covered with planks, but the lawn has grown anyway. Maybe the birds brought the seeds of herbs, or maybe it was the wind that did the work.
Another popular place for skateboarding, rollerblading and bicycle riding is the square near the St. Petersburg City Hall. City Hall (Legislative Assembly) of St. Petersburg occupies the Mariinsky Palace on St. Isaac's Square. In front of the building is a great asphalt and beautiful flower beds.
Architect A.I. Shtakenshneider built the Mariinsky Palace in 1839-1844 in the style of late classicism for Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, but soon the palace was bought out and became an administrative building.
This is my entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge by @tattoodjay.
What a great walk and I think its great you got a girl in that shot to show how high the flooding was, without a person it would not have had a sens of scale
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
Thank you for the challenge:)
MY pleasure to host it
