Wednesday Walk overlooking Western High Speed Diameter

Western High Speed Diameter is a toll highway in St. Petersburg. The construction of the motorway was completed in December 2016. Thanks to this highway there is a high-speed way that allows you to quickly detour the city from the bay side.

I went for a walk on Canoner Island. The overpass over this island is at high altitude and was visible from different points, even from the farthest point of my route.

It's the beginning of the walk, I'm going under the highway. The factory pipe and several modern buildings are located on the neighbouring island of Bely. On the right side of the frame in the background you can see the Cable Bridge over the Ship's fairway.

Excellent swing. I'd like to swing on that swing overlooking the bay, too.

There's another pipe in the frame, this pipe is located on Canoner Island and I don't know its purpose. Symmetrically, there is another high-rise dominant on the left, the recently completed Gazprom tower. I am still within the landscaped part of the park, but the next frame will be taken in a more romantic setting.

On the left you can see the same cable-stayed bridge that I drew your attention to in the beginning. Here the flowers don't grow on the flower beds anymore, but just along the road.

The far end of the island. I took a B/W photo to highlight the harsh beauty of this place. It's a good time to take a rest stop and take a picture of the panorama of the motorway.

I turn around and start to return to the settled places on the other side of the island. At first I have to walk on such stones, but gradually a path appears, and then an asphalt road.

So far we have seen the left side of the highway, now we can look at the right side of it. It's a bridge over the Sea Channel.

I go under the highway to turn around and take another shot. On the left is the seaport area. On the right, a private shuttle bus turns around. This bus is going back soon, I'm going to get on it and go home.
