Wednesday Walk. In the woods in search of mushrooms

Hi friends! Warm and dry autumn in our region (Western Ukraine) was replaced by rapid cooling and prolonged rains. But mostly it happens that what harms one, contributes to another. And in this case, a lot of moisture in the forest means that it is to be expected that there will be a lot of mushrooms. My brother-in-law and his brother and I decided to see if that was true. We went to the forest near my house. It was quite cold, but then the sun began to appear in the gaps in the clouds and the air warmed up a bit. This added a little light in the dark forest and allowed me to take photos, because in the absence of good lighting all the photos came out blurry. Of course, a tripod and a long exposure could solve this problem, but it was a luxury for me, because I still had to pick mushrooms 😄.

There are really a lot of mushrooms in the forest. We were the first to find rows, gray (Tricholoma saponaceum) and purple (Lepista nuda). However, 80% of these fungi were wormy. We checked this by cutting off the ends of the legs, gradually approaching the cap. We left completely wormy mushrooms in the forest. But almost all honey mushrooms were healthy, especially those that grow on stumps. And my brother-in-law found an interesting mushroom-colony, which we call the lamb's head (Sparassis crispa). (Sparassis crispa).

However, there were the most honey mushrooms in the forest. We were lucky to find a few stumps, almost completely covered with these mushrooms. This allowed us to fill our buckets relatively quickly.

At the top of a forest hill, we suddenly came across a puddle filled with fallen leaves.
