Finished New Animal Piece and sticking to my Schedule, sort of...

avatar

Here is my next finished animal piece:

ottrtslothtesdoneTHUMBNAIL.jpg

I am trying to stick with my "New Normal" Schedule

which ironically was basically my old "Old Normal" schedule when I was being good. And by good I mean, making my art and studio time in a consistent job like manner.

Oddly enough my consistency in art making was made redundant

when I started thinking about making videos. I thought, why not for fun start a Youtube channel and make videos. What sort of videos? There was the Rub so I tried to think about gardening videos, or simply visual ASMR ( I call it that thought it's not asmr but just a gengre of videos I noticed on Youtube that were about ethereal visual experiences to watch with a cuppa and relax) An example at a very feeble first try attempt at such a video I made:

I even toyed with the idea of filming my Minecraft play, as I myself enjoy watching Hermitcraft on Youtube.

but video making/editing/writing/lightening/production/set design is HARD and well, Big companies have people, groups of people who do each of those, so I have even MORE respect for diligent Youtubers who do it all on their own.

Have I given up on videos?

well, currently I have not shot much footage, really, since the "EVENT". Even my photography game is down as I am trying to document my 'walled garden' I'm making but keep forgetting to photograph before and afters and @winstonalden and I just hung a large amount of fence yesterday and did I get ONE photo...no. But, I digress...

I am still toying with a Vlog style video.

Something I could realistically do as PART of my daily art schedule. Very little edit, just roll and talk at the camera about this or that, then even the need for photographs could be gone, as I'd just have the video of things I'd be doing.

#However, this would all be for me
as I'd not really expect anyone to want to watch it. I mean , hey if one were to get a few regular viewers, it probably would propel my impetus to continue onward, but who can say. And do I WANT to do it?

Do any of you make video consistently and are you glad of it?

Have any of you become MORE structured and consistent at your 'at home' jobs since the EVENT.

I think I'll close with the Event

and that is to say, I've been calling this the Event, as it was unfolding I could NOT help but keep thinking of the old "That Mitchell and Webb Look" series of bits about a post apocolyptic game show after THE EVENT. Check them out, they are funny if not a little too prophetic.

They do say if you Don't laugh then you'll Cry.

I hope all are finding their way and their "new normal" in this Post Event world. Smile and look outside at nature even if you can't GO out into for very long. There WILL be another NEW normal one day.

As always, like share subscribe and all those good things.

Fun seeing your video here! Good to see your same high-level artistry on a different kind of canvas.

Thank you, yeah it was actually a lot of work, which had me reconsider the idea of a visual esthetic video, Realistically I could probably manage ONE a week and I just think freqency is more of import today...So, who knows. Thanks for liking it @cabelindsay

You either don't have kids or you're the most efficient person ever XD I only remember doing that much stuff before I had kids and as soon as I read all the things you were doing my first thought was an automatic "doing too much" as these days I'm down to...two things? And it's still too much XD

Now those critters are pretty damn cute but I have to admit I spent way too much time admiring the floral pattern on the tea set. Just looks so much like an English grandmother's tea set it's great XD

Well, you are RIGHT @ryivhnn I do NOT have kids. A conscious decision we made, though now, I sometimes wonder if I didn't miss out. When I was young I always pictured myself with one child in my future, but alas, decisions and circumstances did not will out.

I don't know how effiecient I am, but I am a planner and a list maker. As I may have mentioned, I was homeschooled, but with a tutor who came a few days a week, so from a young age I had to learn to structure my days so I'd be ready for the 'tutor time' so that meant, BEFORE I was allowed the fun stuff (Which for nerdy introverted little me was playing with seeds, hatching chicks, collecting bugs/tadpoles, keeping aquarium fish, and reading 'non assigned' magazines on ALL the above. I HAD to do my school work and I had to learn to organize HOW to do it. So, that just sort of held over for me. It REALLY helped at University when so many Public School kids were lost as they were so used to bells and people telling them every day when and where and what to do. Anyhoo, I do like a list.

Even today, I have a pattern to my days (Again, not having kids makes this possible, I KNOW it'd be gone in a second as soon as a child was added!) But I give myself a list of 'daily chores' I HAVE to get to BEFORE I get that first late Morning break of tea and looking out the window or thumbing through a magazine. Then more scheduled 'work' thus art/computer (and sometimes video, still deciding on that one) and so on and so forth.

I think being a creature of habit is my 'zen' so with this lockdown and more worries I just have amped up the schedule even more to feel more 'normal' if that makes sense. BUT, my normal was never really any one elses.

I bet you have WAY more fun with kids though...

My kids are reasonably self-directed and somewhat organised (or at least have some idea what's coming up or can get ready pretty damn quick if they've forgotten) so there might be something in that homeschooling thing even if the parent involved has adhd and is the worst role model ever because they can't organise their way out of a paper bag XD

I'm always happy to hear about the good and the bad things from homeschooled adults, gives me more of an idea about whether or not I'm on the right track and what kinds of things the kids might expect when they hit adulthood, so thanks for always sharing your experiences :D

I don't think you're missing out as such unless you feel like you are. I mean I could say I'm missing out on the freedom you get from only having to look out for yourself but like you a conscious decision was made. I don't know about way more fun, it's just a different type of fun :)

Thanks Oh and I forgot I signed up for that other place you mentioned and they accepted me now I just need to upload there. Do they mind if it's a repost of my blog here, it's a lot of work to write/edit/make content to have to write multiple versions. Thanks again @offgridlife

I love the video - if you don't mind me asking where this is at: the landscape looks familiar in a way - while I lived in Alberta, I often visited the Pacific Northwest and really liked it by the sea - or am I wrong? I never been to the East Coast.
