Although I don't always get into these challenges, sometimes I find such interesting designs that I can't help but want to make my version of them. This was one of those cases, the first but not the last.

Aunque no siempre entro a estos retos a veces me encuentro con unos diseños tan interesantes que no puedo evitar querer hacer mi versión de ellos. Este fue uno de esos casos, el primero pero no el ultimo.

I expected to do it among my best styles, even if it took a long time I think it would be a good addition to my portfolio... and I'm glad I did like it.

Esperaba hacerlo entre mis mejores estilos, aunque me tomara mucho tiempo creo que seria un buen agregado a mi portafolio... y me alegro que fue así.

Before I start it would be good to show you the original image; that way you can know what I was looking for. It had a nice idea, theme and style, my applauses.

As in every work I always start with a sketch, although when I'm going to paint in realism I tend to leave this part a little less detailed, here I preferred to keep it cleaner.

Como en todo trabajo siempre comienzo con un boceto, aunque cuando voy a pintar en realismo tiendo a dejar esta parte un poco menos detallada aquí preferí mantenerlo mas limpio.

As with many of my paintings I decided to do part with direct color and the other part in grisaille technique (I thank @gatolector for teaching me that was the name) . I think it was mostly due to lack of time... I expected to do everything in direct color but then I got confused about many things.

Igual que con muchas de mis pinturas decidí hacer parte con color directo y la otra parte en técnica de grisalla (agradezco a @gatolector por enseñarme que así se llamaba) . Creo que fue mas que todo por falta de tiempo.... esperaba hacerlo todo a color directo pero luego me confundí en muchas cosas.

The skin was one of the things that cost me the most, and that even today can cost me, personally it is one of the materials that I need the most practice although the result tends to be acceptable. For the background I am grateful to have painted in gray, in just a couple of hours I had it ready.

La piel fue una de las cosas que mas me costaron, y que aun a día de hoy me puede costar, personalmente es uno de los materiales que mas practica necesito aunque el resultado me tiende a quedar aceptable. Para el fondo agradezco haber pintado en grises en apenas un par de horas ya lo tenia listo.

What I love most about the grisaille technique is that by placing colors it can end more vivid, the result in the flowers and the luminous bodies made me fall in love. I still need practice since it doesn't always work for me but here it was the best thing I did.

Lo que mas me encanta de la técnica de grisalla es que al colocar colores puede resultar mas vivo, el resultado en las flores y los cuerpos luminosos me enamoraron. Aun necesito practica ya que no siempre me resulta pero aquí fue lo mejor que hice.

What I most hoped to do in this painting was to change the contrast, with a dark background and a source of light coming from the same character, to give that feeling of peace within oneself.

Lo que mas esperaba hacer en esta pintura era el cambio de contraste, con un fondo oscuro y una fuente de luz proveniente del mismo personaje, para dar esa sensación de paz dentro de uno mismo.
