Mrs Ivy

This was a loooong process (not painful, cause I always have fun drawing, but long). I think I did mention that I wanted to learn how to draw curly hair. So the time has come that I started to mess with shapes. They have to be thick and big.

I got some rough shape of a head started the experiments. That didn't look so bad, I thought, especially if I fill it up with dark colour. I added the face details and I think I was getting somewhere.
First I wanted to give her a scar on a cheek :P, but them changed my mind.

And that was is for the day... Had to put it off and come back another time for the fun part - messing with brushes and colours!

I got this brush in a pack and I have been using it ever since. It is just so cool to give good colour opacity and texture. I used it fully in the previous drawing I did right here. And this is how it normally looks like when I start to colour:

As I add more and more colours - more layers is added. I finally got the habit of making everything on separate ones instead of drawing all on one (so many nerves and bad words wasted...). It is just so much easier to fix things or co back to something I did previously.

And so I was colouring. Adding different shades on the skin and some blue for the contrast. 'Cause I like it that way.
And yea.. the hair look pretty cool :p

She was still missing something... Something that would be a part of her.

And so her name is Ivy.

Another break another day and it was time to get the background and finishing touches. In the meantime I manage to f** up my TIF file and lost all the layers.
