INKTOBER DAY #5 BLADE

avatar

Welcome again to my daily presentation of the Inktober challenge, the theme for today is "Blade", but I didn't want to go directly drawing just a sword or something like that, every good weapon with a blade needs some sadistic user to use it correctly, cutting everything that comes in its way.

These five days have taught me that I really had my comfort zone in digital art, you don't know how much I need the tool "transform" and the facility to modify badly made strokes, but that's what this challenge is about, to get you out of your comfort zone or improve your technique through daily practice. Because ink cannot be erased, planning and good sketching of each illustration are indispensable, plus each stroke must be done with great precision and not distract you at all while you are doing it.

Materials:

  • Opaline Cardboard (A4)
  • HB Graphite Pencil
  • Black Ballpoint Pen
  • Black marker, fine tip

-Sketch:

I wanted to establish a more dynamic form in this illustration, so I had to modify the sketch quite a bit to get closer to the idea that was forming in my head.

-Outline:

As I said above, it is necessary to concentrate on the lines you make with the fine point marker, any mistake is irreversible, you can only disguise it but not disappear.

-Ink filling

Having the delineation ready, comes one of the easiest steps, fill in black the darkest areas, just be careful not to get out of the boundary lines.

-Final Touches:

This time, sadly, there is no pointillism, so try to shade the illustration by using transversal lines that cross each other, avoiding too big blank spaces.

Tell me in the comments that you imagine when you see this illustration.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

¿What is Inktober??

The Inktober is an initiative created by illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, with the aim of improving his artistic skills, but over the years has had a great impact on the international art community. The challenge is to make an ink drawing every day, hence its name, "ink" "tober" (October), although for the most part this is respected, many other artists prefer to stay in their comfort zone, so you can see illustrations made with watercolors, graphite, charcoal, digital and any existing technique.
