INKTOBER DAY #8 TEETH

avatar
(Edited)

Hi once again guys! I'm still present at the Inktober, although I'm a day late and it's entirely my fault of my imagination and my ambitions, the theme for today is "teeth" and although it's a very easy theme to do I got completely complicated.

In my desire not to do something simple and obvious, I entered a conflict of ideas, I had many things in mind and I did not know what to do, so I took all day yesterday off, and it was something very helpful, because the idea came to me when I was about to sleep, I saw one of my teddy bears from when I was a kid (no, I don't sleep with them haha, but I do have them on a shelf) so I thought "it's scary month and there's nothing scarier than something that has always been considered cute", so I just finished this little monstrosity with my childhood friend ^^.

Materials:

  • Opaline Cardboard (A4)
  • HB Graphite Pencil
  • Black Ballpoint Pen
  • Black marker, fine tip

-Sketch:

Taking my teddy bear as a reference, I started sketching the idea, establishing the teddy in the middle and drawing the monster around it

-Outline:

Then, delineate the entire silhouette of the character, trying to make fluid strokes and avoiding making mistakes.

-Ink filling

With the black marker, I filled in the completely dark areas inside the monster, leaving some lines that were supposed to be the saliva from its mouth touching the teddy, plus I added some shadow under the character.

-Final Touches:

Precising softly and making quick lines, I added some detail to the body of the monster, paying more attention to the area of the eyes and the union of the tentacles. I gave the teddy a little bit of depth with pointillism, shading more around the eyes to make it more terrifying.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

¿What is Inktober??

The Inktober is an initiative created by illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, with the aim of improving his artistic skills, but over the years has had a great impact on the international art community. The challenge is to make an ink drawing every day, hence its name, "ink" "tober" (October), although for the most part this is respected, many other artists prefer to stay in their comfort zone, so you can see illustrations made with watercolors, graphite, charcoal, digital and any existing technique.
