ONE OK ROCK [ Field of Wonder ] ART

Good morning! Finally, I have drawn one of my favorite moment from ONE OK ROCK's [Field of Wonder] Live Stream Concert last Sunday. Sharing videos (and probably screenshots as well) are prohibited and so I can't share the exact angle I made this drawing from. However, here is a different angle from the photos Ryota uploaded yesterday on his Instagram account. @ryota_0809 (4th photo).

FIELD OF WONDER

Here's a brief introduction about this band, ONE OK ROCK!

ONE OK ROCK is a Japanese rock band with 4 members: Taka (vocals), Toru (guitar), Ryota (bass), and Tomoya (drums). This band began in 2005 and one of the bands who mixes Japanese and English on their songs. They got popular after releasing their song "Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer" and received massive international attention after singing songs for the film Ruruoni Kenshin. Since then, the band has been touring the world non-stop. They were supposed to do an Asia Tour last April and May but was put on hold because of the pandemic. ONE OK ROCK currently has 9 studio albums with "Eye of The Storm" as the latest album.

It's been 7 months since the world was hit by the virus and 7 months since concerts are not allowed. However, despite mass gathering being prohibited, the world of entertainment have found a way to reach people, at least. And that is through online. We just have to be really thankful the pandemic happened at this age where we are equipped with technology.

Last Sunday, October 11, ONE OK ROCK held their first ever concert, FIELD OF WONDER, after seven months at the ZOZO Marine Stadium without a single audience present at the venue. The venue was super huge and without a crowd felt so different for the band and also for the audience to watch in their homes through their screens. Okay, I will write a longer post about the concert one of these days but for now, let's focus on my drawing. :)

This is one of the moments that I liked from the show. It's when they were performing the song "Start Again" and during the instrumental part where the crowd sings the part "Oh Ooh ooOh Ooh oOOh", Taka grabbed Toru and Ryota and compressed themselves to fit on the screen. This part looked so fun and sweet at the same time. It looked like their really enjoying it and wanted to talk to the crowd watching online. Like, "Hey, we're here! I hope you are enjoying the show at your homes!". That's the feeling I get on that moment. I feel like they really missed the live audience.

On the original angle, only Ryota (left), Taka (middle), and Toru (right) were visible on the screen, but it's unfair if Tomoya will be left out in my drawing so I incuded him on the back happily raising his drum sticks. I also added the lighted chairs behind to complete the look of a concert. What is a concert without some spectacular lighting, right?

SKETCH

My sketches for this drawing. :)

For the blinking lights at the background, I saved one file with black background (without the lights) then saved another with the lights. Then I turned the drawings into GIF by combining the two drawings alternately to give the effect of blinking lights. :)

Medium: Digital (Wacom Intuos Comic)
Program: Clip Studio Paint Debut
Time: Approximate 7 Hours
Gif made with Photoshop CS6

Music makes the world more beautiful so I wish musicians and other entertainers can go back to stage with full audience again someday. :)
