ONE OK ROCK [Wonder] Animation!
Hello! Well, look who's back, back again! 😂 I never thought I'd be not posting on Hive for ten days. I usually post everyday but I had something that got my hands busy the whole time recently, but I can't tell it just yet. Some time in November maybe? I was so engrossed with it that I didn't feel I was away on Hive for ten days already. Anyway, I also did a simple animation while being away.
The three guys you see on my animation are Taka (vocals), Toru (guitar), and Ryota (bass), the members of the Japanese band ONE OK ROCK. They have a drummer (Tomoya), of course, but I didn't include him on the animation because I am only highlighting the part when the three are doing a synchronized dance on their new song, "Wonder", during their online concert last October 11. The title of the new song is still a speculation but everyone felt it is what the song is called.
The guy in checkered is the bassist (Ryota) while the farthest guy in black pants is te guitarist (Toru). Just in case you're not sure who's the bassist and guitarist. Hehe!
It is illegal to share videos of the concert and so I can't put the part where I referenced my animation. Just imagine them dancing back and forth while Taka sings the lines, "Don't you ever wonder! If you have one breath!" (I'm not actually sure of the second line. My ears are not very reliable sometimes!)
"WONDER" Animation
I did my best to recreate this scene in my animation and even tried to imitate the stage and the lights around it. I was supposed to post this on my Instagram last night but I forgot about it. Lol. Hopefully I don't forget to post it there tonight. I've been away there too for a long time. Yikes!
If you want to see the official snaps from their Field of Wonder online live last October 11, here are the members' Instagram accounts:

ONE OK ROCK was began in 2005 and is a huge band in Japan and among the popular Japanese musicians in the global music scene. They've been touring the world since 2014 or 2015 (if I'm not mistaken) and it is through the quarantine, lock down, and travel restrictions due to the corona virus that kept them staying back in Japan for the longest time after so many years. And since social distancing is encouraged and mass gathering is prohibited, ONE OK ROCK and just like the rest of the artists, shifted online to reach people and make things seem like as usual, at least.
Here's the band, by the way.

DRAFT
Well, I was doubtful at first whether I can make this animation. Even thinking of doing it makes me feel tired already. Haha! But I really want to do it and see if I can really do it.
I started off by drawing a stick man just to see the movements of the character. As you can see below, I think it looked okay so I proceeded with the next step.
After the amazing stick man drawing, I drew a sketch of the characters and check if the frames look alright. I had a difficult time drawing each movement, especially their feet. I think they look weird. Lol. I also drew Ryota and Toru holding the bass and guitar on the opposite direction and so I spent more time on this step. But that's better instead of correcting the mistake when you're already finished doing the lineart or maybe the color.
And once I got satisfied of the draft (but more like, "I'm already tired I just want to finish it haha"), it's time to draw the lineart! After the lineart, I proceed to color each frame then draw the background last.
MY STEPS TO ANIMATING
I don't know but maybe people using new animation programs today can do all things with ease with just one program, but in my case, I still have to use three to five programs to make animation.
1.) I draw a stick man for each frame on the animation program Macromedia Flash 8. I'm probably the only person on earth who's still using this today. Hahaha! Oh well, when you got no money you got no choice! I had this program in my laptop since college and I've only used it a few times on our multimedia class.
2.) Once I'm happy with the movements, I export each frame and open them on Clip Studio Paint Debut where I will draw a sketch of the character/s.
3.) I return to Macromedia Flash and see if the movements are the same or look good.
4.) If all goes well, I return to Clip Studio and make the lineart, coloring, and background. I export each drawing for each frame separately, even the background, so I will be able to animate them.
5.) Then I return to Macromedia Flash and arrange each frame and it's frame rate. (This animation I made here is in 9 fps.) Then I export the animation.
6.) Since the file extension of the exported animation is in .swf, I still need to use Swivel, a software that converts swf file into video formats such as mp4.
For an easier understanding here's a summary of my animation routine:
Macromedia Flash ---> Clip Studio Paint ---> Macromedia Flash ---> Clip Studio Paint ---> Macromedia Flash ---> Swivel
Of course, the case will be different if I have to make corrections like what happened while making this animation. I mistakenly colored the in-ear headphones of Ryota black on one frame and just realized it after exporting it into mp4 so I have to go back to change the color and edit the frames on Macromedia Flash.
7.) If I want to add some audio on the video, I edit the file on Adobe Premiere.
8.) For posting the video here on Hive, I have to convert it into a GIF file since you can't directly upload videos here. I use Adobe Photoshop to convert a video into GIF.
Medium: Digital (Wacom Intuos Comic)
Program: Macromedia Flash 8, Clip Studio Paint Debut, Swivel, Adobe Photoshop
Time: Sorry I really can't remember. >.<
That's all for this animation post! I think I made this post longer than it should be. Hehe! I will be scheduling my posts for now since I will be trying to create my first episode on my long-forgotten Youtube channel. Lol. Let's see if I can finish it until the end of the month but I still have to fix my script. Good luck to me! :)
