It's been four days since the 11.11 big sale, however, our phones still kept getting notified by Kris Aquino saying, "Shopee 11.11! Shop na!". Since her voice has been ingrained in my brain from hearing her for 3 days, I thought of drawing my reaction every time Krissy pop's out from my notification.

Good morning! This week has been a lot for us people in the Philippines with 2 strong typhoons hitting the country right after each other. But this didn't stop the 11.11 big sale from happening. Couriers have to temporarily stop their operations though, which caused delay to the delivery of packages. My mom's order was stuck at a courier's facility for a day but operations returned the next day and her order was delivered.

So before we move away from the main topic, here's the comic I drew for the Shopee 11.11 sale.

SHOPEE 11.11

Shopee is a Singaporean e-commerce site and app established in 2015. It is available on various Asian countries including Philippines. Today, Shopee is among the mainstream e-commerce site and app in the Philippines. Sellers and buyers flock on Shopee because of its awesome deals which benefit both parties. Aside from that, the e-commerce site has a very effective advertisements by using catchy jingles and popular personalities to endorse the company. They had actress Ann Curtis, singer Jose Mari Chan, and the latest, Kris Aquino, the queen of talk shows.

Well, aside from being a celebrity, Krissy is known to be ultra rich who loves shopping and so she fits so well to endorse a shopping site.

Honestly, while some find Krissy's attitude and way of speaking irritating, I find it entertaining. Lol. In my point view, she's just being herself, a sassy rich woman who is not afraid to speak her mind.

But! But! But! Hearing her saying, "Shopee 11.11! Shop na!", the entire day for 3 straight days can be irritating. 😂 And so sometimes, I try to close the Shopee notification as fast as I could just to not hear her voice. I'm not sure how to turn off the sound for Shopee notification and most of the time, Krissy's voice interrupts the audio when you are watching a video. And sometimes I jolt when it's quiet in my room and my phone just suddenly speaks.

So what you see here in my comics is how I deal with Shopee notifications (feat Krissy) during the past 3 days. I didn't have orders nor plans to buy anything during the big sale anyway so I just kept closing notifications from this app.

FULL VERSION

So while seeing the full version of each frame, I will share to you some things how I made this drawing.

For the background, I used a brush to draw a splash effect then clipped two patterns above it. I adjusted the opacity of one of the patterns to make more lines visible and create other shades of colors. I also added an oil paint texture on top of the drawing to have some grain effect and make the drawings more cartoon-ish.

Then if you look at the the phone's body, you'll see a metallic orange line. It's actually how my phone looks like. 😂 I only used one color for both shade and highlight. For the darker color, I used Color Burn, while for the shine, I used (Add) Glow blending mode.

On the last frame, I adjusted the opacity of some of the hands to represent hand movement. I also used a comic effect which is available within the program Clip Studio Paint. It's originally black, though I changed it to white.

Here's the sketch for my comics. As you can notice, I've made a slight change on the second and third frame, specifically the text inside the text bubble. The comics is originally three frames only but I decided to go for four so I could fit them nicely in one page. :)
