Anime Blogging Challenge Day 2: First Anime I Watched in its Entirety

Heya otaku(s)~!!! It's about time to do the second part of the anime blogging challenge by @kuronokenshi. There are 10 various challenges, but I'm afraid I won't be able to do them daily. However, I plan to finish all the items in the challenge, so bring it on!

Since this is my second entry, I have to tell you the first anime I watched in its entirety.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly since I've been watching anime since I was an elementary school student. They were broadcasted on Philippine TV, so there might be days that I missed some episodes. Anyway, I'll choose on among them and that is...

Do you guys recognize this anime? When it was broadcasted on Philippine TV, we called it Ghostfighter. The original title in Japanese is Yu Yu Hakusho. It's actually one of my favorite anime during my childhood.

I chose this one because I remember watching its ending on TV when I was young, so this must be one of the anime I've watched in its entirety that time. Well, I did watch it again maybe around five years ago. I also saw that it's on Netflix, so I might as well rewatch it one of these days.

These four are the main characters of this anime. When I watched it the first time, they're called (from the left): Vincent, Eugene, Dennis and Alfred. I have always known them with those names so when I rewatched it a few years ago, I couldn't easily get used to their actual names in Japanese. Anyway, they're Hiei, Yusuke, Kurama and Kuwabara.

I'm also pretty much used to hear their Tagalog-dubbed voice but I'm glad that their original voice in Japanese isn't that far from the Tagalog dubbed. As an anime fan, I'm more into subbed anime than dubbed since I can feel it more when I listen to the original audio.

When I first watched the anime in the late 90s, I have already been very fascinated with Kurama or Dennis. I liked him in his human form as he looked pretty and cool at the same time. I was attracted to his long red hair that whenever I and my cousin do some anime reenactment, I always try to imitate him and his rose whip.

However, when I saw his "taong lobo" (fox-demon) form as they say in Tagalog, I was totally hooked. I had a massive crush on Kurama then... well, even until now, I still like him the best. I guess he's also one of the reasons why I like Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter since he's based on Kurama.

Surprisingly though, when I rewatched Yu Yu Hakusho as an adult, I find Hiei's character very appealing. I was able to understand his character more as an adult. When I was young, I thought he was cool, but having a lot of eyes all over his body was a bit creepy. lol I feel different now, though. I understood the purpose of those eyes although he hasn't used that form a lot.

I'm for mysterious and aloof type of characters as well. Somehow, having this kind of personality makes the character more interesting and attractive.

My favorite female character from this series would be Master Genkai. I thought she's a "he" at first. In the Philippine dubbed, she's called Master Jeremiah which is a very common guy name. However, when I saw her young version, I was astonished at how pretty she was. She's also super powerful!

It's so nostalgic to talk about this, so I want to watch it again one of these days. After that, I might write a review on it. We'll see. For now, I'll end this post here. Please look forward to my next entries. :) See you again! (^_^)/
