Buying and exhibiting NFT art pieces at the NFT Showroom on Hive blockchain

There is a bight future for NFTs in cryptoland. Non-fungible tokens as they are known, are items of art – in this case – that can be logged on the blockchain as a smart contract token, a one-of-a-kind item, like a coin but unique. And the NFT Showroom is the gallery where they are being exhibited, bought and sold by artists on the Hive blockchain today. I bought 3 art pieces for myself today and plan to exhibit my own art pieces there in coming days. So watch this space.

Those familiar with cryptocurrency will be familiar with the idea of tokens or coins, like bitcoin, and all the other altcoins. They are fungible in that one bitcoin is equal to any other, and they are interchangeable. However, digitalized art pieces are unique, yet they can also be tokenized like a coin, with a value, but they are individual and non-fungible, or one-offs. One art piece is not equal to another. Unless you print a range, say a limited edition print of 3 or 30 or 103 or whatever you choose. It’s up to you as the artist.

I browsed the NFTShowroom Gallery today and saw a massive range of works for sale, priced all the way from 1 million Hive tokens or $152.5k for a one-off, one of a kind, original piece of art, all the way to a run of 5 prints of a piece for 0.75 Hive or $0.11 per single print. Some artist sold single editions and some had limited editions of 5 or 10 or 50 prints, if you want to call them that, although they are all original digital pieces. It’s just that there are 5 or 10 of them. And yet they are all original because they are coded onto the blockchain permanently.

So you can buy a print from a run of 5 for example and know that only those 5 exist. They may be alike but no other token will be alike, and no more will be produced. And also no copies of forgeries can be produced, since the history of the print is tracked on the blockchain. Every transaction, from the sale by the artist at NFT Gallery, all the way to you the first buyer, and even your sale to the next buyer, if you choose – all those transactions are recorded.

And this is precisely the beauty of blockchain technology. That’s why banks like it and why bitcoin is a currency using this open ledger technology. Blockchain allows for us to write these type of smart contracts as well as record, on the open distributed, the token (in this case an art piece) as well as the sale thereof and all the subsequent transactions it is involved in. The record keeping is there so no forgeries or even theft of your art investment is possible.

One of my favorite creations, soon to be available as a NFT on Hive blockchain - collage by hand with scissors and glue

I see a bright future for digital art here on Hive and at the NFT Showroom. I myself will be exhibiting there soon. I already have about seven original art pieces that I wish to exhibit for sale, as limited editions of 10 prints of each. My originals are actually paper and glue collage compositions from found pictures remixed to make the collage images. And I will be creating more originals this year.

I love making art, and my dream is to make money selling my original art works now too. I am dreaming it into reality and NFT Showroom on Hive blockchain is allowing me to achieve my dream. I won’t set the price at 1 million Hive though. Nor will it be as cheap as 0.75 Hive. My art will be priced at around... I’ll have to think about it. And compare my work to the other art on the market.

the photo doesn't do it justice but the scan will digitalize the art pieces much more impressively

A price of around $15 per print – say around 10 Hive tokens – would be a worthwhile price target to aim for generally speaking. These NFTs are not like CryptoKitties or Splinterlands or any other such NFT or tokenized individual game item for sale. They are – in my case – a pure art piece, made by hand from paper and scissors and glue, which are then digitalized. I know most artists nowadays create their art piece directly on the computer using some software like Gimp or Photoshop or whatever, but I am old school and do my collage creation by hand. Either way is fine today for the NFT market.

One subject that I am personally interested to see in the NFT Showroom, is crypto art, or pieces relating to the cryptocurrency industry, like famous coins, or memes around the cryptocurrencies we know or the people who are famous in the industry. There are a few of those and I even bought for myself a nice DOGE meme piece of art as one of my first NFTs, now in my personal collection.

this one really fits here on Alien Art community

I am now an art collector, as well as an artist keen to sell his works. Theoretically, if the price of Hive and cryptocurrency tokens rise in time, then I presume my NFTs can also gain some value. Of course art is in the eye of the beholder, as is value. So there is never a certainty just how much any NFT art piece is worth, or will be worth in the future.

It’s up to you and the buyer or seller of the art piece to come to a conclusive trade. The artist sets the price and the buyer pays for the work, knowing they have a limited edition, or perhaps even the one and only original in some cases. Ultimately those who get into the NFT industry will do well, since everything can and will be tokenized in years to come , as blockchain technology opens up to the mainstream and they see how powerful and useful it is.

I completed this piece last year, as my prediction of what turned out to be the Capitol building invasion of 6 January this year

Record keeping and smart contracts will be able to empower multiple industries and already cargo goods, land and other items like food produce or valuable art pieces, can all be tracked and recorded via blockchain open DTL (distributed ledger technology). This really prevents forgeries and theft of gems, land or any contact. It removes any kind of scope for corruption or looting in governments too and should be able to clean up many industries. No more fake gems or art. No lost cargo or usurped land claims. Theoretically speaking. Hive is already doing well as a use case for NFT, so if you want to keep up then you had best rise to the occasion.

Also completed late last year, this collage shows a martial warrior archetype

Go and check out the NFTShowroom online to view the current NFT art pieces on sale by talented artists who are selling their work for cryptocurrency. You too could become a professional artist, earning a living from your creations by placing them in the NFT art gallery as tokenized digital art works. The power is at our fingertips.
