Dreamy things (Traditional illustration)

Hello everyone! ♥️ My name’s Fernanda, I’m a designer and illustrator (in progress). I also love movies and animation, and there’s special place in my heart for old animated films and cartoons.

Dumbo and Pinocchio (ofc not only Disney films) are some of my favorites. How to forget the grotesque but also “sweet” scenes of this two films! Like when Pinocchio goes to the game island where kids turned into donkeys, or the scene where Dumbo gets drunk.

I think we won’t see this kind of things in new commercial films, so it has a special charm. Don’t you think? So... talking about Dumbo and the “drunk psychedelic” part, I can say, without a doubt, that I can watch it over and over! I love it!!!! The music, colors, animation, characters... I mean it’s perfect, eye catching and it has the potential to make you feel the moment.

I had the idea of doing a mashup of that with an original character of mine, so one night I was bored and thinking about creepy but nice things 😆 and I decided to start my drawing.

This was the result, it was actually a lot of fun, and when i finished it I was so excited lol, because I’m always experimenting when I make art, and almost never know what’s gonna happen. I just start and let the things flow.

You could say this is my tribute to Dumbo and specially to all the illustrators and animators who worked so hard on this film. As a lot of you might know, it wasn’t an easy thing to do. Lots and lots of hard work!! And the sad part is that they are kind of anonymous... (or completely).

Fun fact: I like to put the same moles that i have in my characters, that way they have a little something of me on them. 😅
