The Mic Check I'll Never Forget | A Five Minute Freewrite

"Mic check, 1, 2" was echoing all over the hall room.

I was hearing that for the hundredth time and my heart was racing faster with each passing second. I had rehearsed this a million times over. Today was the day I had been preparing for, for months now, but the fear that gripped me almost had me shaking.
I hadn't experienced anxiety this bad before. My hands were sweating profusely, my knees were all weak, my legs trembling as my breaths became more shallow.

"Five more minutes," the instructor said as he walked past from behind patting my shoulder. I almost tumbled over startled as my notes left my hand in a quick frenzy.

"Calm down," he said as he handed over the microphone to me. "You'll be fine".

This was it. There was no going back from here. I knew I was ready for this but then I had never had to face a crowd as large as the one I was about to face or been on a stage so big.

The five minutes flew like seconds and in no time, the instructor was giving me a nudge to go on stage. I tried to move my legs but all I felt was my stomach tightening. With one loud wretch, I turned around to flee but the only motion there was me puking my breakfast all over the instructor.

PS - This story developed in a way I wasn't expecting and now I think I'll create a back story to it as a second part and finish it up.
