Week 4 of the We-Write Reboot: A We-Write with @improv

My Part

Soft thumping could be heard amidst the waves gently crashing into the shore as the beach ball was passed around by the three friends.

"You alright with that hip, Jack?" Tabitha suddenly asked out of the blue just as she passed the ball to Jack.

"Huh? Oh yeah, well it's a good move to do this stuff in the water-- keeps the weight off my hips, so yeah, everything's cool..." Jack replied almost too nonchalantly as she passed the ball towards Xochitl.

The ball was in mid-air when Jack suddenly blurted out a question, "Hey Soshie, mind giving me a ride out to the next town in your trailer later?"

Jack expected Xochitl to give her 'the look' everytime she called her that godforsaken nickname, what she didn't expect though was how Xochitl suddenly had that look of panic cross her features as she flailed to catch the ball but ultimately failed as it made a sizable splash on the water.

They all found themselves staring at the now floating ball a few seconds longer than necessary before Xochitl slowly started to break the awkward silence that seemed to have found their little circle.

"Uhm... I kinda lost the trailer actually..."

"Lost it? What, like you forgot where you parked it or something...?" Jack tried to lightheartedly laugh off the dread that was slowly creeping up on her about the other prospect but turned solemnly silent as she noted the sad look Xochitl had on her face.

"The upside to it though..." Xochitl softly continued as she reached out a hand towards the floating ball and gave it a decided push to Tabitha's direction, "Tabitha offered me a place to stay. Just until I get back on my feet again."

Xochitl now had a gentle smile on her face as she watched Tabitha slowly scooped up the ball that found its way to her.

"You know.." Tabitha slowly started talking as she kept her eyes on the ball, giving it little lifts from her hands, "I may have room for one more just-- you know, if you're interested?"

It was then that Tabitha raised her eyes to Jack as she passed the ball to her. Jack caught the ball on instinct but still had a wide-eyed look of surprise on her face as she glanced between Tabitha and Xochitl before settling her gaze on the beach ball, remaining quiet for a few seconds before she raised her eyes back to Tabitha, a grin slowly forming on her face.

"Not until you tell me your ground rules first, Cosmo girl."
