This time around @stinawog inspired ME to do a freewrite!

Tomato. This whole time I was thinking about tomatoes. Purple spotted tomatoes. Striations.

I'M DOING A FREEWRITE RIGHT NOW I'LL CLEAN THE LITTERBOXES IN A SECOND.

With their green tops still on, sitting three to a basket. Why do they even bother with those baskets at the farmer's markets? Farmers' Markets? There's more than one farmer.

Those baskets seem inefficient. There's a lot of inefficiency in capitalism. Even for heirloom tomatoes. Someone to weigh them out and carefully make sure the money is handled. Lots of worry that someone will cheat their way to free food.

All the people I know who sell produce direct actually worry less about those dribs and drabs of pennies than the ones who are forced to care about a corporation's bottom line. They are motivated not by concern for the well-being of their employer, but by their fear for what consequences may befall them if they displease the employer. Their, our, sense of right and wrong must constantly compete with our need to survive under a heartless system.
