A World Abandoned ~ a five minute freewrite

The woman in billowing green stood atop the high mountain and gazed upon the world, the longest of minutes passing in an eternal limbo as she coolly, deliberately curled a slow, distasteful nostril. Even from this great height the illusive stench pervaded. One of chaos. Disarray. Mayhem. Death. The physical aura of bleakness, enrobing her not unlike her already robe-ish robes and drowning her in the unwanted madness of those who lived below.

Madness.

Her nostril uncurled, a tear fell, followed by a treacherous rain as the skies reacted to her presence, to the thoughts held hostage by those that drifted across the dying world.

It was her fault.

A step towards the precipice, a temptation that spoke of an everlasting relief if she would but allow it, a harsh, taunting wind that wrapped about her legs and nudged, then nudged again. As one with the world she looked over, they would be joined and all that offended would be gone.

The ground trembled, rumbled, shook beneath her toes.

A sharp intake of breath, a tremble over her skin. a brief chill that pierced both the air and her flesh and removed, if only for a moment, that which tried to send her over the edge.

White stone walls ribboned with golden thread rose from the ground, through the dirt and pebbles, and thwarted the manifestation of desolace. A set of stairs spiralled into view and curved ever upward as the construct grew into a tower tall enough to touch the stars, to caress the everlasting heavens, to take her from this ghastly realm and allow her to reign elsewhere.

This world had faded. Failed. Was no longer hers. Would never be again.

Her next creation would fare better.

Hello!

It has been a long, lonnngggg time since I attempted a five-minute freewrite. This one wasn't five minutes. It was more thirty minutes. But at least I'm writing. Trying to write. That's the main thing. 🙂 Need to get back into a writing groove. Of course, however, I try to snap out of it whilst afflicted by the dull malaise of a cold or something. Ugh.

Today is Day 1275 of @mariannewest's five-minute freewrite challenge, and the prompt was high mountain.

You can find today's challenge at the following link:

Thank you for reading!

Maybe a little overly flourishing, haha, but in my head a big, fanciful voice was speaking, so, it needed some flourish. 😅
