We're in hot water now! ~ a five-minute #freewrite
"We're in hot water now!"
Joey grinned and I simultaneously clenched my fists and teeth. Everything was a joke to him. Everything. Here we were, running down the street, being chased by crazed cultish vegans with cannabilistic friends, and all he could do was make not-so-funny quips.
"We will be in the hot water if they catch us," I snapped. "Literally. With potatoes."
"It's okay!" He laughed. "Never fear for I have just the escape route we need."
He took a sharp right and ploughed headfirst into the untamed nature reserve.
I paled.
Hesitating by the dark, all-too-familiar trees, I yelled, "It doesn't involve tobogganing down a cliff, right?"
There was no answer so I screamed, "Tell me that your grand plan is not tobogganing down a cliff!"
"My grand plan is not tobogganing down a cliff," came the muffled reply followed by a giggle.
"I don't believe you," I groaned.
Angry yells and shouts were closing in upon me, their footsteps heavy as they pounded up the road, and unlike me they weren't out of breath. Maybe there was something to living on apples and sesame sticks after all...
...last time I tried to eat nothing but apples I suffered headspins all day and near collapsed from weakness.
These people were made of sterner stuff than I. And they were getting closer!
Despite myself, or perhaps in spite of myself, I entered the nature reserve and followed Joey's footsteps. Like an idiot. There wasn't really any other choice.

This is a semi continuation of my last Joey and Jenny thing that I can't be bothered to find to fact-check and link. No weird inner voice thing if you recall previous entries. I'm not really wanting to continue on with it at the moment but when I saw the prompt it was literally the first thing that came to mind. 🙂

It's a good time waster. :) And with breadcrumbs I earn about 12 STEEM a week which is nice.
I like to think that with more plans implemented in the future it'll be a great addition to the blockchain and a fun game.
I didn't really get into Steem Monsters, or Drug Wars, or Next Colony, but this one has managed to hold my attention for longer than a few days. I think that's a good sign. :)

I have two questions about your story.
Is the protagonist a man or a woman?
What is the idea about vegan's cannibalistic friends? Vegans don't eat meat and yet cannibals even eat meat that other people don't eat. Is that friendship between vegans and cannibals ia up to the reader's imagination?
Joey is a boy, Jenny is a girl. Jenny is the main character who deals with the irritating Joey, her eternal housemate.
This is a freewrite based on previous freewrites where there was such prompts as a "winter barbeque" where people were eating "sesame sticks." We then found out there was no beef, because they were vegans. Vegans who feed meat-eaters to cannibals because at least the "cannibals" aren't eating animals; they're eating humans.
To get a broader idea you'd need to read previous freewrites.
Joey and Jenny are characters set in a purposefully bizarre reality. One where you can order hippopotamuses off of Amazon and get them delivered within an hour.
