How would you describe “freedom”? What is the difference between a right and a freedom?

When I saw this prompt from shadowspub it got me thinking. It has actually being a while since I participated in free-write, but I guess will be doing that more often now as I would be heading out to the national youth service camp in my country; means no photography, maybe books. I will also have to get involved in some weird rigorous activity and drills for the next twenty-one days or so. I don't enjoy taking pictures, maybe not of myself but I will try to keep you guys in the loop of the happenings around me. Right. Enough rambling.

How Would I Describe Freedom?

I really wanted to talk about this. I guess my choice of picture would give you an idea of how I describe freedom. I have always been the one about freewheeling. I do not enjoy responsibilities, but according to my bud @osarueseosato, "responsibility maketh man". Maybe not responsibilities per se, maybe restrictions, been held back, pressure, and all that sort. Freedom for me is of the mind. A man is truly free when he is able to formulate his own thoughts without prejudice or influence from external factors. Freedom is that little bit of space for you to think and question the status quo. With my definition of freedom, you would have probably figured out that 50% or more of the world population are not free. People's ability to think has been taking away from them with weaponized phenomena. Ah wait, I am in over my head now. You look at religion and you see how blinded people are by it. I am a Christian, but it was never really about following Jesus like a mindless zombie. You look at politics. It was never really about exploiting the people or taking as much money for yourself as you can. I have derailed again. So basically for me, freedom is of mind, never about the shackles.

Right and Freedom

Then there is this part of the conversation people often misconstrue. I have always thought to myself how "right" and "freedom" could be likened, even mistaken for to mean the same thing, but yet they are a world apart. Here is a difference; Right is what is owed to you by some legal or ethical, or even moral system while freedom is complete immunity to whatever the fuck it is. There is the right to life, the right to fair judgement, right to freedom. See? There is the right to be free and not enslaved to someone under no circumstance as everyone is equal under the law; rule of law. So in a simple and understandable way, freedom has avenues and no restriction, while the right is what one deserves. Maybe should give an example of this effect. If you look at different countries, there is the right to protest by the people against the government when there is unjust treatment, but the freedom to do as one will is not possible

Well, there you have it. Me talking about weird random shit that makes no sense. Get used to it, xd. Hope to see you again.

Is it really possible to formulate your own thoughts with external factors.. I mean I get exactly what you say.. I'm just here thinking.. isn't thought formation an end product of thinking and isn't thinking our attempt to find answers to problems..
If that's the case then isn't thought formation the final product or resolution to problems we encountered and if so then aren't problems the external factors that drive us to think???

Its kinda ironic, but there is a final idea that prevails.

Ordinarily, external factors make is think, and in the end, we also think to affect them.

The final idea is, thinking straight. Its more easier to look out the window and think, well fuck it. i might as well just believe and accept that. its more difficult to look out the window, see everything and decide to analyze and ask Why.

In the end, if you don't allow your mind to think, you will be the acceptance panda who takes all the shit but never really considers where the shit comes from, or who shits it, or why.....

Okay, terrible analogy but you get my point.😁
