In the Eye of the Hurricane - Life

The weekend flew by and I can't keep track of all its happenings. Friday me and Jeff met with my son, daughter-in-law, his two sons, my granddaughter and my six month old great-granddaughter at Hoss's Steak house. Because my son is transitioning to full-time at his own home appliance repair business he's burning the candle at both ends and at his request left the boys with our 21 year old granddaughter's overnight at her suggestion.

I woke with a rip-roaring sinus infection Saturday which swelled up the left side of my nose and face which had began as a bloody nose last week I tried to self treat and went to the doctor about allergies on the 3rd of March. It wasn't infected then, but work from home seems to be the issue. I'm probably allergic to something here; mold, dust or who knows.

These are just some new trials thrown at me. The infection closed off air to my left nostril. I called Doctor on Demand (thank God for them) and was put on a new bacterial antibiotic I haven't previously used. I'm still on prednisone to back off the allergies themselves and I received an allergy shot on 3/3. Prednisone wires me so bad I can't rest or think straight and I am irritable.

I received a text from my granddaughter that she couldn't handle the eleven year old who was back talking her about 1:30 pm. The baby was sick and threw up. She was overwhelmed and stressed out. I had tried to rest up having had sleepless nights for the past week but when family needs you, you step up.

We had a nice time after I asked the kids to tell me if they listened. The 11 year old said he did so I taught him and his brother some communication skills and I admonished the rebellion. I had strict German parents and raised my kids to respect authority. "Unacceptable!" I warned. We enjoyed each other afterwards, did some activities and played with my granddaughter's baby bearded dragon a while. I helped with the baby's bath. I am so I'm love with this great grandbaby because I never dreamed I'd get to hold and participate in her life. Most don't see those greats until much later in life.

Today was an equally busy day. I met with my son and he helped me purchase my iPad Air and Apple Art Pen Gen2 and a two terabyte external hard drive. They don't have the iPad stocked so its being shipped to my son's house. I decided to try my hand at Procreate after my nephew spent the weekend with us to visit Leia, his kitten which I've been fostering since November. She, coincidentally, hit her first heat on Friday and is scheduled April 6th for her spay surgery.

We dropped off a dress I bought for Jeff's granddaughter in Erie then I drove to his house to pick up the whiskey that they brought home for Jeff from vacation in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I managed to help get the grandkids to help their mom (boys!) and I helped mom who my son(-on-adrenaline mode) is driving crazy.

Little Liea is purring on my lap and I'm done instructing everyone about their dos and don'ts for the day. Now I just pray for healing and strength for work tomorrow and for prednisone to allow some sleep.

Life is sometimes chaos but miraculously, when I ask Him, God helps me fit it all in and leaves me grateful to be alive at this stage of life, and almost a Matriarch of our tribe.

PSS. I was without my phone yesterday after it took a drop in the toilet at my granddaughter's. A full night in a bag of rice dried the port so thank you, Lord it's not fried.
