Will the upcoming Hive Hard fork affect users in any way?

avatar

As per the peakd notifitcation a hive hardfork is sheduled to happen on 6th Oct 2020 and based prior experience I understand that hardfork is way to make chnages in the chain.

I am not sure about the upcoming chnages so would like to know if this will afect the user in any form?

Please share your thoughts about it.

Thank you.

Overall, users should not notice too much change.
The major changes are mostly in efficiency for the nodes running the chain. That might see more people consider running nodes. There are some migration from the other chain; the API nodes will use the correct names for assets, a new chainid and some missed airdrops will be granted. Most of those changes are invisible to ordinary users.
The main changes users may notice:

  • Proposals can have titles editted, and proposals will cost more to create.
  • HP must be staked for at least 30 days before it's considered for witness voting.

In my mind, this is good. Most of the user changes you now see are in the frontends and none of them require hardforks to implement.

this is very good and as you said that it's not affecting users so very good. The above points that you mentioned are much needed for the platform. Thanks
