Four Things I Know About Hypnosis Through Personal Experience

Growing up, I went to a "Hypnotist Show" every summer.

Taurus do Brazil made his yearly treck to Tijuana, Mex and my parents and I went to the show, and then ate tacos afterward.

The show took place in a theater and would start with a simple introduction. Tuarus would tell us all about hypnosis, then he would hypnotize the whole audience.

Those who fell asleep were then brought up to the stage, and made do all sorts of silly things. From making sounds like a chicken, to pretending they were watching tv in their home, to pretending to be arrested. It was lots of fun to watch.

The 2021 version of me would think that these people who "made the show" were plants, put there to make the show more interesting, but the kid me knows better.

When the hypnotized people would walk by you, their eyes looked different. They weren't really there and you could tell that they were not really seeing you, they were seeing whatever Taurus Do Brazil told them to see.

The show was more than entertainment, it was a way of helping people too

Yes, the hypnotized crew would entertain us, but afterwards, they all got a reward.

Before the show was over Taurus would wake up the people. They always looked a little confused and surprised. He would let them know that they had been hypnotized, and once they believed them, he would ask them what they needed help with.

My daughter died and I have been spending money trying to get psychics to talk to her.

My husband cheats on me and I am not strong enough to leave him.

I am diabetic and need to eat less

I am overweight

I can't concentrate on school

Sometimes the people on stage refused to state that they needed help with anything. In that case Taurus would turn to the audience, ask who was there with the guest, and ask them directly what they needed help with

My mom yells a lot

My husband drinks and smokes

My daughter is a slob

Tuarus would then put them back to sleep, and tell each and every one of them that they were cured. And, well, supposedly people were cured.

After the show, Tuarus would do a meet and greet and would sell cassette tapes with information about hypnotism

A little youtube video of someone who was there too. The shows I went to were about 15-20 years before this

My family bough a set once, and we listened to it a few times. I don't remember the exact information, but here are some lasting lessons from what I do remember.

Ahhh, remember when you could get a show for 100 pesos?

Lesson Number One: A hypnotist cannot make you do something unless that something already lives inside of you

One of the tricks of the show, was to make the people on stage pretend to by famous singers and artists.

"I am going to pay you 1,000,000 USD to sing like Paulina Rubio!" Taurus said one time to a woman on stage. The woman grabbed the mike, and belted out in perfect harmony and even danced. It was amazing.

Another hypnotized woman on stage complained. I want 1,000,000 USD too she exclaimed. Tuaros went on to ask her if she could sing like Thalia. "Any of those people, I can sing like anyone, just give me the money.

She was instructed to sit and smile.

Why?

Because the first woman was a Paulina Rubio fan, she watched her on TV, and listened to her on the radio, the information about how to act like her was already in her subconcious.

The other woman didn't give singers the time of day, and there was simply not enough information in her subconscious to make her act like a singer.

So, there has to be something in your subconscious in order for the hypnotist to tap into it. They don't put information in, they simply tap into the information that is already there.

You can't "fall asleep" unless you have full trust

If you do not want to fall asleep and be hypnotized you won't be. Your subconcious will fight it and wake you up.

I remember laying in the chair, and feeling my tongue go against the roof of my tongue, then heavy pressure building, kind of like an inner yawn.

I remember thinking NOW WAY. I didn't want to move around because my brother next to me and my mom on the other side were trying to sleep. But I didn't want to fall asleep, as soon as I acknowledged it, the sleep sensation started lifting off.

I went with a friend in my later years, and he fell asleep. He was taken on stage, he did some silly stunts, and he woke up on his own.

When Taurus tried to snap his fingers and put him back under his control, he couldn't. My friends subconcious was fighting him.

Taurus explained to us, that those who don't want to fall asleep don't, and those who do not wish to stay under can wake up - UNLESS they hypnotist is giving them full one on one attention, then in that case they hypnosis is harder to fight.

It is easiest to hypnotize someone who want to be hypnotized.

You actually did get some help, but hypnotism can only go so far

I met a woman who was about 20 years older than me who had also been to this same hypnotist.

She had gone under, and been part of the show. Her biggest frustration is that she never enjoyed the show, because she always was the show.

"I don't eat bread anymore" was also her complaint.

She had fallen asleep, her mother had told the hypnotist that she had weight problems, and he had "cured" her.

He had the woman lose her taste for bread. When I met the woman, she was still overweight.

How?

She had replaced the bread with tortillas.

So yes, she had been cured of eating bread, but she replaced it with tortillas.

Hypnotism can only take you so far.

2020.07.12-John-Milton.jpg Most of the images are of his son Milton, because, well, the show by Taurus was a looooong time ago, DUERMASE, was his quote

You can go under the hypnotists control anytime with his command.

"Has anyone ever been hypnotized before?" Taurus asked. A man from the front row raised his hand.

"I have, but I don't want to be hypnotized again." He stated

"Then why are you sitting in the front row, center?" Taurus asked.

To Tuarus, the man's action meant he wanted to be there, so he took him back on stage, and had him under in a matter of seconds.

"If you are truly under my control, you are under my control" He stated.

This was my experience with Hypnotism growing up. It was very entertaining for me, and helped a lot of people in the community.

Do you have any experience with hypnotism? If yes, make sure to share, and use the "hypno" tag.
