Valongo Mountain Range - Ending Trip | Portugal
Hi everyone :)
From now on, everything will be extremely visual.
The splendor of the scenery that appeared towards would speak visually for it self and i could stay here, without further description, letting the images describe that moment on a sunny day with a mild and peaceful climate.
If it weren't for the people who also walked there, it would have been an experience of full communion with nature.
So many times i went through these mountains when i was younger, whether on foot, in a Jeep or on a motorbike and incredible as it may seem, this was the first time that i walked these paths, which proved to be a huge surprise even though it was already to know the beauty of these mountains, but knowing myself some of the most incredible places in these spaces, i should no longer be surprised to be surprised :P
Yes, i abused the colors of the photos a little bit, but believe me, the scenery is just as you can see in the photos.
This entire route is surrounded by a mountain massif of great natural and landscape value and accompanied by the Ferreira River, the largest watercourse in the region, which crosses the entire valley, meandering and skirting tight curves such as the sharp change of direction, as the example of known Alto do Castelo and Fragas do Diabo that i've had the opportunity to share in previous posts.
It not only runs through the surface, but also extends through a complex system of tunnels and underground galleries that descend dozens of meters deep, many of them created due to the mining works that took place in these mountains during the period of the Roman occupation and from which large quantities of gold were extracted.
The creation of these mines gave rise to small springs and water lines that created conditions particularly favorable to the herpetofauna, which is associated with humid environments, and in turn meeting conditions to the presence of a variety of endemic species such as the lizard water (Lacerta schreiberi), the Iberian frog (Rana ibérica) and perhaps the most well-known and of which we are proud to have chosen our corner to settle and stay here, the famous Portuguese salamander (Chioglossa lusitanica), which i had not yet the opportunity to take no photo, but I still haven't lost hope :)
Without much more to add, I leave you with the photographic records and wishes for a lot of peace and health;)
That´s all for today
Thank you for watching
